isn't going to happen because TV, like radio, is a BUSINESS and if it sells, it'll be broadcast.
 
Couple of larger issues here, which have proably been addressed in this thread -

1.) It highlights a vulnerability in our security planning, and shows that we can never feel 100 percent secure.
It was a cartoon promotion this time; who knows what might get stuck on the sides of infastructure and buildings next time, or how long til we notice it?

2.) Not to sound like an old gaseous cloud between the cheeks (trying to avoid censorship here), but companies ought to think long and hard about the impact of their "markting." Yes, Boston maybe went over the top in its response, but there should be no apologies. Kudos to the city for the way it was handled. They didn't act this way in any other cities, but remembering our unfortunate connection to the launch of the jets on 9/11, it's clear Boston is a bit more sensitive about this sort of thing. The people who say "lighten up" can press their lips to my posterior (censors, again).

Wrong. Homeland Security targets people who are planning attacks against our nation by monitoring their phone calls, emails, etc. and using other investigative means. If they talk about bombs, infrastructure, etc. then they become a person of interest and targeted for investigation.

They don't go after artists hanging Lite Brights around the city. Why would Homeland Security even notice these guys unless there was some malice involved?

You've been brainwashed by Howie. First, these guys were hired a PR company not Turner.
Second, it's not a hoax if there was no intent for it to be a hoax. Third, Mumbles needs to watch more cartoons. These guys will never serve any jail time. Once the lawers get done talking, Turner will write a check to Mumbles and Deval and that will be the end of that. Charges will be dropped and Martha could finally start paying attention to the real crimes taking place in Mass.

A banner plane flying over Fenway Park during a Sox game potentially poses more danger to the public safety than some artsy fartsy guys putting up promo kits on buildings. A banner can fall down onto speeding cars on the Mass Pike and cause a serious accident.
 
And Turner will be none too happy to write that check to the Honorable Mayor Menino as it put a movie most of us didn't know existed on the map in a huge way. Meanwhile the bigger picture is while they are chasing down stupidity - Bill & Ted from their not-so-excellent adventure who is watching the store (Boston Harbor, the bridges).

We need to have security sweeps on a daily basis. It's good for the economy - more jobs for the unemployed.

Since those two are now the "experts", hire them and make a reality tv show out of it.
 
Hi, the mayor's office here. We polled a dozen people in the office as to their I.Q.s.
It added up to just over a dozen. Should we be proud or alarmed?
 
While I know this is a "radio" board, I have to add this bit of info...

A few years ago(O.K. more than a few years ago) someone at Cartoon Network thought running the same cartoon all day on April Fools Day would be a funny thing to do.

The manager at the cable company where I was working started getting calls of complaint from viewers. So many that he wound up getting ahold of somebody at the network and finding out this was a planned stunt.
(I understand someone from "C-N" was looking for work after that event.)

While this was way pre-9/11 and caused no backups on the Interstate nor the closing of a major harbor, it does illustrate the "what were they thinking" observation.

BTW, the umpteen repeated video was a "Screwy Squirrel" cartoon.

While we're on CN, their April Fool's stunt on Saturday 4/1/95 consisted of the "2 Stupid Dogs" picking a four-hour marathon of their favorite cartoon, which was - the all-live action "Danger Island," which was directed by Richard Donner (the "Lethal Weapon" movies) and far better than most of the cartoons on the air before or since. BTW, no "Banana Splits" or their attached cartoons that day! :D
 
Fortunately no ambulance was stuck in traffic doing a transport.

I hope that the above happens to these two stupid, individuals. I hope there is an emergency for them or someone close and the ambulance is stuck in traffic
