Noggin and The N Get New Names

Wasn't sure if this was posted on here around February as that was when it was annouced. Both networks will be renamed. Noggin will become Nick Jr. and The N will be called TEENick. Also currently Nick Jr. shows that are on Nick are just using the Nick logo.

Weren't there a few cable systems that had dropped Noggin recently?

Wasn't there already a Nick Jr and a Teen Nick?

This really is sad. I remember back when Noggin first started out in 1999, during the wee hours, they had reruns of old PBS/CTW shows such as 3-2-1 Contact, The Electric Company (original), and Sesame Street from the 70s and 80s. They also had Sesame Street episodes from 1993-94 that aired during the preschool programming hours. I remember in 2003 when the channel was revamped into Noggin/The N, they phased out all that retro programming, and I was very sad. It was just as if someone had died. However, they still had episodes of Sesame Street from 2000, which obviously isn't as good as before then, but its better than not at all. But 2 years later, that was done away with as well, and now the spin-off show Play With Me Sesame is gone, too. So, the only good part of Noggin that still existed was the name of the channel, which will apparently be gone from existence this fall. RIP Noggin and classic Sesame Street.

I just remembered something about Noggin. Back when they first went on the air at the time they were showing classics such the old Electirc Company and Sesame Street from the 70s, however around the same time when they were airing those I seem to remember reading ( I think it was in USA Today back then ) where Noggin/Nick were trying to expand adult viewership by planning to air some classic local kids shows from the 70s & 80s like Chicago's Bozo, Denver's Blinky The Clown, Phoenix's Wallace & Ladmo, Baltimore's Professor Kool, Philly's Captain Noah...etc.....

Of course none of that ever came to be. I wonder if that was a rumor ( filler in USA Today perhaps? ) or was Noggin really serious about it?

I would imagine that would be a nightmare in a business sense, having to make deals and such with multiple owners ( Tribune with Bozo & Blinky, ABC/Disney with Noah for example ), never mind the fact the question of exactly how many of these shows are still around even though recently I have been told by a number of my friends who live in Phoenix that KPHO still has a number of old Wallace & Ladmos in their library just collecting dust.

I even remember the rumor back then where Noggin had got the rights to the old Metromedia show Wonderama. That one I never bought since afterall if Bob McAllister and Sonny Fox ( the hosts ) couldn't get their hands on Wonderama, how could Noggin?

It said September of this year. I am surprised Nick didn't do this when they slip up both networks and Nick uses the Nick Jr. on a network in another country. Anyway it makes sense to have the name Nick in the network name as they are part of Nickeloden.

Also of the three kid networks who does the best? Disney Channel, Nick, Cartoon Network

I disagree. It would not have been a nightmare at all, networks and channels do that all the time. Making deals with distributors is part of the business. If they couldn't do that, they should not have been operating to begin with.

It must have been a rumor. Noggin would never have carried any of that programming, because it had nothing to do with Nickelodeon or Children's Television Workshop. That's the same reason why they never had old Mister Rogers or Zoom episodes. It would seem as if a lot of people think that the channel was somehow affiliated with PBS, but it was not in any way. It was only affiliated with CTW. So, that right there is unusual, because most people would be surprised to see Sesame Street on any channel other than PBS. And seeing a break in the middle of the show sure seemed very different.
