Non-com volunteer Marty Hensley arrested

For everyone else's edification, fwmw originally posted this on the Indiana board, where it was actually relevant and people would have known who Hensley was ...

However, the headline is rather misleading by using the title "volunteer." Hensley and his wife run a far-reaching chain of religions radio stations across Indiana and Illinois, and as far as I know these stations provide their livelihood.

Yep...he worked at WIKY and I believe WGBF as well. This was in the 1980's IIRC.

Maybe the 90s too. This whole thing seemed to have been blown up more than it needed to be. Nonetheless, he wasn't too smart to leave a gun in plain view in his car while wearing a holster at a school.

I've talked with him and while I can't reveal what he shared with me, there's more to this story than meets the eye. Stay tuned...

I don't recall when he left Evansville and returned to Indy. He met his wife there and they've been married for 18 years so the math suggests that indeed he was still there well into the 90's.

He wore an empty holster into an elementary school, that caught attention. Then came this gem,

"...he knew he couldn’t carry a weapon into the school but wasn’t aware it was also illegal to leave it in his car on school grounds, Greenfield Police Chief John Jester said Tuesday."

It was made clear in my conceal carry class the concept of "school grounds". Now if he had left the holster in the car along with the pistol then this whole nasty event would have not happened.

I haven't seen Marty in years, but he was always nice and very helpful when our chief was out of the area assisting stations that needed immediate attention.
