Non-PBS Educational Stations in the US?

Hi

Was just reading part of the Boston multi-PBS thread, and I know that in Miami we have 2 PBS stations and ALSO WBEC-TV 63 which is educational, yet with no PBS programming at all, aside from old PBS castoffs like "Square One TV."

What other TV stations in the US, still on the air, are considered educational, non-PBS, and non-commercial?

KUEN-TV in Salt Lake is the "Utah Education Network". They run school-related programming during the day, and a "PBS-like" fare at night, plus "MHZ WorldView" on a subchannel.

Square One TV? Do tell!
When do they air it?

Does anyone know of any other stations airing it?

I'd be very interested to hear about this.

I just went onto www.becon.tv (their site) but do not see Sq1TV. I am sure I saw it before there. Also, as they have a lot of classroom shows (including 1st grade style penmanship at 1 in the morning or so!), "Sq1TV" may be "hidden" inside another show listed. I see they have a lot of math shows.

Go to the site...possibly they stream their video.

WBEC has never been a PBS station.

I have an old Providence TV Guide from 1986, and Channel 58 in Vineyard Haven, MA - then, an independent - had aired the PBS staple "Sewing With Nancy" during the week.

WLRN Miami has MHZ too. I caught MHZ on e-skip this year as a sub of WGVK Kalamazoo!

Going back to an earlier post, I saw *only* Square One Math Talk on WBEC & on its online schedule. It said where to write for Square One....I was disappointed...no website :) [copyright 1995]

You must not watch on Fridays...that's when each MathNet aired, and usually at the end of the show. I miss Square One TV, especially the mini game shows.

These programs that are shown on WBEC are only 15-minute versions, so I have no idea how the editing goes about.
