Since Norsan would likely move La Rasa from 105.7 to 106.3, it would be nice if Norsan can return W289BS to Earth FM and "resume" broadcasting on 105.7 (where they first started) before moving to 103.3 more than 10 years ago

Wouldn't WMYI fill the A/C programming void that 106.3 will create?why would Norsan do that?
Last i checked, Norsan has NO english speaking stations.. spanish is what they do and what they will do here. They appear that sticks to what they know and super serve that audience.
And before you say.. well, Salem had Earth FM and in Honolulu they have country and classic hits, i get it.. but theres zero reason to think Norsan does anything other than spanish
Wanting Earth FM back vs whjat a company will do are two entirely seperate things.
If Earth FM is viable, more viable than what sopmeone else is already doing, someone would bring it back, and they havent yet.
some stations may be lower rated than earth was or making less money, but they serve a strategic part of someones puzzle, to protect a bigger station from a competitor.. or compliment another stations demographics.
i'd be curious if @DavidEduardo could tell us about what Earth FM was billing?
I do miss Craig and Action cutting up in the afternoon. Not many believed me.
WMYI does not have a playlist similar to an AC. It plays a lot of classic rock and 90s alternative. There’s pop/rock in the playlist, but it’s not as close to AC as The Lake in Charlotte or Steve FM in Columbia. It’s a rock leaning adult hits station. Playlist.Wouldn't WMYI fill the A/C programming void that 106.3 will create?
910/105.7 will probably flip to the Latina Tu Musica format, the second format Norsan runs:Im talking about the 105.7 frequency, (W289BS) I wonder what will become of it. Though in a similar scenario, 98.3 and 104.9 are both still Fox Sports...I figure 105.7's programming will move to 106.3 making the smaller (extra) overlapping signal obviously redundant...
...and they also don't want a competing radio station to end up on that signal.I stand by what I said. There are 87,000 Hispanics in a market of over 1 million. But Audacy wanted to close quickly.
Look what iHeart does with their stations that are put in trust.
96.7 moved in to Greenville as a class A at 700 watts, too, it wasn’t nearly as good of a signal as it is now at 104.9 as a C3. iHeart was able to rearrange a handful of signals to increase it and move the old 104.9 in Asheville closer to the city at 105.1.In 2002, Art Sutton's Georgia-Carolina Radiocasting Group sold 106.3 to Barnstable Broadcasting for $4 million. At the time, Sutton operated the station from Newberry, SC but obtained the CP where 106.3 transmitter is presently located. Barnstable built the signal and later sold it and the other stations they owned in the market to Entercom. Now in 2024, the signal sells for $700,000. Sutton paid $300,000 for 106.3 as a Class A in Newberry back in 1999. Georgia-Carolina according to FCC records has enjoyed a profitable return moving small town signals into the Greenville market. What is now 104.9 was originally the 96.7 moved from Greenwood and sold to what is now iHeart for $1.5 million. His company sold what was then 95.9 WLTE to Salem and was involved in the recent upgrade of WLTE to 95.5 by moving the 95.3 at Due West, SC to their Lavonia, GA market allowing WLTE to use 95.5 and the 102.9 translator now operating in Greenville was moved from the company's Seneca market. It appears their focus remains a group of small town stations clustered in the area where Georgia and the two Carolinas share borders. It appears that group was formed nearly 25 years ago so I suppose those stations must still do well enough they have stayed put. Interesting concept for a small town operator.
Nearly always there is an economic issue in this kind of format change. Either new ownership has skills in programming and selling a different format or, simply, the old format was not profitable and had to be changed. How ironic that 2 recent popular (favorite) stations (Earth & Magic) are the latest to say goodbye, and yet some of the least favorite stations I would never listen to and would rather see gone, of course, somehow still exist. ....How about something we can leave on for many hours (like I was able to do with Earth FM & rarely Magic)
.
92.5 WESC is considered classic country by industry standards. They won’t play any currents or anything recent, most of the playlist is 90s/00s gold with some pre-90s thrown in on occasion. How ironic that 2 recent popular (favorite) stations (Earth & Magic) are the latest to say goodbye, and yet some of the least favorite stations I would never listen to and would rather see gone, of course, somehow still exist. Doesnt seem right, maybe something new is about to manifest (Classic Hits? !!) Never thought I would see the day that the entire dial is unappealing (90s hits anywhere)? Even Classic Country is lacking here (something like Outlaw 105.5 Asheville).
KGOW hasn’t used its day pattern in several years as that separate transmitter site is not operational. They are on their night site full time, which is supposed to send a tight lobe to the southeast. However that array is out of whack; KGOW can be heard in DFW with almost local strength, and has been regularly heard in Alaska. That signal could be going almost anywhere at night.
Try listening to KYET in Arizona or KGHF or KWLS in Wichita KS, its a way different aim & league than WESC ever could ever be, (WESC does well by protecting its sister stations WSSL & to some overlapping extent - WKSF).92.5 WESC is considered classic country by industry standards. I do hope someone fills the AC void.
