Norsat LNBs vs. CalAmp

I had to add a 2nd C-Band dish a few months ago. Ordinarily, I go with California Amplifier LNBs and have had really good success with them. This time around, I let my broadcast supplier talk me into going Norsat because it's what they stock. The first one died within a week and the 2nd one died during last night's strong electrical storm. (Yes, the dish is grounded well.)

Meanwhile, the CalAmp on the other dish is still working fine.

I'm curious to see what everyone else's experience with Norsat has been. I'm probably just really lucky, but thought I'd check to see what kind of experiences everyone else has had with Norsat.

We actually switched to the Norsat LNBs and stopped using the CalAmp LNBs because we were getting a lot of failures in high heat.

I have used several Norsat LNB's. The only problem I have ever had has been due to major lightning hits. I dont think I have ever had one to just fail for no reason.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Lightning definitely didn't get my first one. We were in the middle of a drought at the time.

Just to dig up an old thread...

I just replaced an old CalAmp LNB the other day and I installed a Norsat 3220 in it's place.
