Any truth to the rumor that North American has bought WLVQ? Wazoo to flip to Christian, K-95 to remain the same??? This could be big!!! Mybe they traded 'Ted' for the Wazoo???

No way. I don't see them coming up with $50 million +++ to do this kind of a deal. I'm basing this on the $23 million paid for the new 100.3 Class-A move in to Norwood-Cincinnati ($18 million for the station plus $5 million to buy the Mojo format from 94.9). That would mean the Minichs would have to bet the entire ranch. I don't see it happening.

I've heard the rumor...don't know if there's any truth to it...but there are reportedly some suspicious activities going on in the NABCO building. Only time will tell.

Why would WAZU flip to Christian? Where'd you hear that?

For what possible purpose could this happen? Doesn't the River pretty much have Christian sewn up in Col?

If it flipped to Christian...who would program it? Would they run a network? Program it locally?

Besides...WAZU's signal is a rimshot at best.

I heard Salem Broadcasting was involved in the deal somehow...which would explain the rumor that WAZU is flipping to Christian.

It would be something of return home for Wazoo. It was christian WTLT in the early 90's.

Insiders say that this is a definite. They're constructing a new building for Q-FM. Salem Broadcasting to buy 107.1 (to become 'The Fish') and K-95. Wags and Elliott will be gone before long too. Joe Show is a keeper from what I'm hearing. Kemper? Dave Man?

So, the Mnichs are creating their own 'Rock' monopoly... for $60 million!!!

why get rid of one of the top mornings shows in the city?

wouldn't that be kind of dumb to construct a new building for Q? don't they already have one studio that sits empty from TED?

or the studio from 920 WMNI that sits empty most of the day and night too! I would think if the "rumors" are true they would try to find space in the present location for QFM, why would they locate just "one" station elsewhere.

On the other rumors, why would salem want 107.1? I know there have been rumors of them wanting a fish in this market but 107.1 is not a full market signal and they already tried Christian music on a non full market signal (anyone remember when they breifly owned 103.1 which at the time was WRZR and silent (that became 103.1 WTJY "JoyFM" running salem's Today's Christian Music Format) ? So I dont see why salem would want to try Christian AC on a rim shot signal, even though WCVO 104.9 whom is doing quite well with AC is a class A but their signal covers Columbus a little better than WAZU's signal does plus they already have a footing on the Christian AC format here, or maybe this is the case of "93.3 syndrom" they want to put a cheap AC on to kick WCVO down a few points? like 93.3 targets 94.7.

I used to work in the halls of NABCO at one point. What I heard is that NABCO is moving to a new building. Not sure where or when, but the rumor I heard from someone that works inside is that...

QFM96 goes to NABCO

WAZU goes to Salem and they will launch their Solid Gospel station on the stick

Now the story with K95 is a little different. I have heard two stories on this issue...

SITUATION ONE: SALEM picks up K95, spins it off to Radio One for their trade of 106.3 in London. Then 106.3/107.1 become part of the happy Salem Family. 95.5/98.9/107.5 all chill out in the Radio One complex.

SITUATION TWO: SAGA picks up K95 and keeps it part of their lovely family.

First, I can't imagine where NABCO would get enough $'s to buy Q. The other CBS stations have sold at a 14.5 - 15x multiple. Second, I have to believe their building is paid for, why would they move or build another building. Third, in the other CBS market sales, the buyer has bought all the stations in a market, not just one station. Can't see a 3-way sale for 3 stations in little ol' Columbus.

The word I've heard is that they tried to put something together, it fell apart and they're done with it. Guess we'll see soon.

That make the most sence of anything i have read on this thread so far

... and buy a new building on top of that? i don't see that happening either. i'm pretty certain that the NABCO buliding is already bought and paid for and have you seen all the office space that's for sale on dublin rd? They could have a pretty hard time selling that place too.

i could see CBS breaking up the cluster but i don't see them going to 3 different owners. it would seem that 107.1's signal would be some sort of package deal with one or the other stations (Q and K95). my guess, not that it means much, but Q goes to NABCO and Salem gets K and WAZOO.

I can think of two reasons Nabco might want a new building:

1. So they can pick up 103.9.
2. Because the existing buiding is butt-ugly. (Although it's better than when they were at the top of the pre-remodeled Southern hotel and had rats in the studio.)

If the rumor is true, I'm surprised Saga would let an opportunity to FINALLY get a second local big signal slip away. This would be much bigger than the Pickerington move-in.

Is there any other market this size where only one operator holds more than a single big signal? If Nabco can manage to become the second, I heartily congratulate them.

Personally if I were NABCO I would stay put in their current building because within the next couple of years they are going to see a bunch of new development going up right down the street practically. That area is on the verge of some very new development and should be a pretty hopping place if Grandview and Columbus can agree on what to build there:

Word is that NABCO had an architect in the building several weeks ago...
