North Bay's CKAT phasing out Country?

Is 600 CKAT in North Bay Phasing out Country in favour of a News/Talk/Sports format?

According to www.milkmanunlimited.com/tunedin.htm (you'll have to scroll down a bit)
They are increasing their morning to night news and information, and going all sports for the evening.

Country music still gets some air play durring the day...but for how long?
(Especially when they just hired TWO weather specialists)

"The Commission approves an application by The Haliburton Broadcasting Group Inc. for a broadcasting licence to operate an English-language FM radio station in North Bay, Ontario." They are proposing a proposing a country music format
on 106.3 FM.

If North Bay gets phased out by country on AM 600, then why doesn't Sudbury do
the same thing on AM 790? Sudbury has a bigger market than North Bay.

There's only 1 radio station in Sudbury that's owned by Haliburton Broadcasting
and that's the French language station CHYC 98.9 FM. Can there be a possibility
they can open a second radio station or phase out Z103 in favour for a country
station? Z103 is a CHR/Top 40 station owned by NewCap and they are doing quite well with their station, as far as I know. I hope top 40 remains in Sudbury for
a long time yet!

Take care,

Lee.

The same is happening to Sudbury 790 as it is to North Bay's 600, more talk. less music. Haliburton could but won't open a second station in Sudbury (they used to own Z103). Newcap will probably apply for a second station in due time. As for ratings, the last time they were done in Sudbury, Z103 was well below the other two commercial FM stations

Yes, your right AM 790 is doing the same thing like North Bay
is, I checked that out the other day. Time for another new
commercial FM country station for Sudbury if NewCap can open
another one.

Do you think Z103 Sudbury should keep the Top 40 station or
not?

I forgot to mention in my last post from the other day that
I've heard rumours in the past with one of the DJ's at
Z103 that they think that they may go Jack-FM or country...

If Sudbury loses chr/top 40 again (which I hope it doesn't)
it may be a long time if another chr/top 40 station will
appear in Sudbury again...maybe never.

I do agree if NewCap will open a second station in favour
for country.

Take care,

Lee.
