North Myrtle Beach's WNMI (98.7)

Is fairly strong on 104.7. I know the signal is only listed at 100 watts, yet I've never heard it on its listed frequency at 98.7.

There shouldn't even be a station that close. Can you pick up WDAI at 98.5?

Also, Bob FM is at 104.9 so you shouldn't be picking up anything there.

Believe me....I'm hearing it on 104.7 mixed with WNOK, Columbia. Occasionally, WZUP (La Grange, NC) pops in.

WNMI-LP: http://transition.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/fmq?call=WNMI-LP

I'm 14 miles from the WDAI X-mitter.

WRMR - Jacksonville, NC (Modern Rock 98.7) comes in 24/7 (100K - 98 miles). On other occasions, WSMW - Greensboro, NC (98.7 Simon) and/or WYKZ - Beaufort, SC (98.7 The River) pops in intermittently.

WMNI lpFM operates at 98.7. It is owned by the City of North Myrtle Beach. The antenna and transmitter for WMNI is located in the heart of Little River. It is indeed 100 watts and it is on frequency and within all tolerances for its signal as dictated by its license. WNMB in North Myrtle Beach provides programming for WNMI per the instructions of the City. Our engineer keeps a constant watch on the rf, any reflected power, etc. It would be most weird for WNMI to be heard on any other frequency. It could be possible that you are having some intermediate frequency troubles in your receiver, or there could be some "ducting" going on somewhere. WNMI is constantly clobbered from the south by splash from 98.5, and from the north by another station in NC on the same frequency at 98.7.
By the way, WNMI has studios in the WNMB building in North Myrtle Beach, and at the City Hall in North Myrtle Beach.

Bill - I'm hearing it (WNMI) right now (12:50AM) on three different receivers at Myrtle Beach National.
