Actually, Sebastian was not programming WSM. It was changed to The Wolf, with new call letters. There are 3 fm stations in Nashville doing country, and WSM-AM is still around, making 4 twangers in the market. Sebastian turned the station around completely, taking the Wolf to number one in the last book.He left Nashville a few months back and is now programming the Jack station up in Chicago last I heard...bobh

Actually, they did keep the WSM calls...they brand themselves as 95.5 The Wolf, and play a mix of country and songs like James Taylor, The Eagles and Jimmy Buffett. Whatever Sebastian did worked well there...bobh

So, bobh, what you're saying then is that despite your protest to the contrary...Sebastian was in Nashville at the Wolf.....and WSM-FM (its current set of calls) plays a mix of country and classic rock. ??? ???Funny.,...I remember reading that before somewhere.......didn't you, k105mark?

Yes, that is correct. And on the contrary, Sebastian did not turn the station around. As happened in Lexington, Sebastian lost cume in Nashville.

Don't just look at the 12+ share you get from All Access.

I was working in Nashville at Clear Channel's WLAC when Sebastian started programming WSM. I was wrong about them changing the calls. They went from WSM to branding as 95.5 The Wolf, still WSM FM. When Sebastian took over, they were the number 3 country station in the market. When he left for Chicago, in the next book The Wolf beat CC's WSIX, and WKDF as the highest rated country station in Nashville. Nobody expected that big a turnaround, especially going up against Gerry House and the House Foundation at the Big 98. And yes, The Wolf mixes country with classic rock.bobh

While it is true that Sebastian had an initial spike, as always happens with stations that he has programmed he then lost it. The very next book they went back down.I have nothing personal against Sebastian. I just think his programming style is very wrong for country music.
