North Shore Sunday article on "shock jocks" (note tie ins to regs on this board)
Not posted online yet but you can pick up a free copy of North Shore Sunday and read Varulven's article
on "shock jocks". I am quoted along with Keating Willcox (WNSH), Jeff Kline (WLYN), Kimberly Jaeger (WZLX)
and Little Walter (WODS)
With me giving Varulven permission, I basically told him what I said here.
Bob Nelson is a blues DJ on Salem State College's WMWM. He's passionate about radio
and worries about where it seems to be headed.
"While we shouldn't be totally in fear of saying something that might offend someone else,
we also should try to respect people's feelings, etc.," said Nelson. "We should try to avoid
racism, sexism, and so on. It's a tough call in this world where big media conglomerates hire people
to be provocative...and then recoil in horror when they actually are. It's a slippery slope between being too
cautious and not cautious enough."
again I don't think the article is online yet but it should be soon.
