I'm considering going to work for Stephen Silverberg's Northeast Broadcasting, a company I don't know much about. Is it a good place to work? How does it treat its employees? Is it a company that's likely to be around for a while, or will I read tomorrow morning that they've sold out to Nassau or Citadel?

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

It’s a solid company to work for.

The owner is tough and demanding.... but fair.

It’s not a place that you can hide, but if you are committed and hardworking it is a place that you can excel. They promote from within and believe in giving people opportunity.

The company is in expansion mode, so you have no worries about ending up with Citadel or Nassau.

Owner is a nut who meddles in everything.

All you have to do is look at The River in Haverhill.

How many PD's have they had? Some get fired, some leave...but there has been a slew of them. Most get frustrated with the ownership.

They tend to buy crappy properties at fire sales...and then expect them to be competitive.

They keep referring to their Haverhill station as a "Boston station". The get a 1.0 share. No one in Boston refers to them as a "Boston station".
 
That is probably the most accurate description I've ever heard of that company. I should know...I did two tours of duty there on 30 Howe St.

Still? They referred to it as a Boston station when I worked at (then) WLYT in 1984!
 
From experience... they treat you well until they dont want to anymore. It's a poorly run company in cost cutting mode. The company has only 2 radio stations with full air-staff's and by full, I mean more than 2... what does that tell you? Good people, working for a bad company...

The Golden Rule is, "If you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything." So, since I worked for the company for over 3 straight years, all I can say is...nothing.
