Here is one I remember from around the 1978-80 era in the Herndon/Sterling area:
There was a station that had a giveaway of a free car (Oldsmobile, if I remember correctly) that listeners had to figure out where the keys were hidden based on clues given by DJ's at various times over the air. If the keys were found, then they won the car. The hidden keys ultimately were located by a listener somewhere near Sterling, VA and the car was awarded to them by one of the local dealers.
Does anyone remember this, and do they know the station that did it? I seem to think it was WOHN in Herndon, but they were such a small station, I doubt they had the funds at the time.
