Concerning W291BY-FM 106.1 MHz:
This 250 watter has a fair signal in the Capital Region which has been wasted simulcasting YNN Albany's audio.(900 AM is a simulcaster of the same signal but that makes more sense). In the last month Scott Fybush has reported that Moon Radio-1160 AM-WABY's standards format will be simulcast on 106.1 instead of YNN. The Radio Locator web site already lists Moon Radio as simulcasting on 106.1 FM including a direct link from 106.1 to the web page of Moon Radio.
But as of tonight it's still YNN Albany being heard on 106.1. I called Moon radio up a couple of weeks ago about when the change might take place and no one there even admitted it's going to happen.
This is a potential great move. On anything larger than a clock radio, music is lousy to listen to on AM(Sorry Magic 590). Anyone know when and if the standards will return to the Albany FM dial? Perhaps there are technical issues like converting to FM Stereo that are delaying this.
