Not "AMP" But......

According to the other board and respected radio follower Scott Fybush, CBS is looking to secure a request line number that has H-I-T-S (4487) as its last digits. Along those same lines, the "Amp" name will be exclusive to Los Angeles only.

Still no word on which station (92.3 or 102.7) will do the actual flip.

http://fybush.com/nerw.html (scroll down a bit)

well thats all speculation but you never know they could go its in a rock direction like 92.3 krock todays new rock or like whjy which is a rock station up here with a slogan of todays new rock and classic rock maybe they could do something like that !1

If that's true (about the Hits request line) then I would think they would flip K-Rock to CHR. Because it seemed if Fresh was going to flip it could stay Fresh - just needed a major imaging overhaul.

Glad to hear AMP is staying in L.A. To me it comes off as a cheap buzz word - just like EXTREME used to be at the turn of the century. Plus it reminds me of a 3rd rate Red Bull energy drink.

I'd still like to see K-Rock given the proper chance to succeed. Tracy C, Mike TEARney and Mark Chernoff just didn't/don't have the balls to properly program rock to the area. Awful playlists, terrible jocks, a 3 hour morning show, it just needs some talent! It's a shame there isn't any money to pay the people that could fix it.

92.3 NOW FM "ALL The HITS

CBS Radio has www.ampradio1051.com registered http://www.register.com/whois_info.rcmx?requestType=validate_challenge Which may mean WOMX Mix 105.1 in Orlando, FL so CBS Radio could just be saying AMP is exclusive to just LA for us not to think they could use the name in another market.

As for 92.3. I saw on another site which I proble can't name here. But on it I found that 92.3 might become 92.3 Now FM. Plus their is a Twitter Account http://twitter.com/923nowfm so who knows. Plus fybush said their looking for a phone number with HITS in it. Maybe Friday will be the day as that is when CBS changed formats in LA.

AMP, NOW, HITS? CBS is either running some brilliant subterfuge here or they just don't know what they're going to do. I just wish they'd pull the trigger already.

Wow! Nothing gets past the folks here and on that "other" message board!

buffalotom lamented:

I think that CBS is attempting to run some kind of "brilliant" subterfuge. But don't worry, buffalotom! It will all be over in a matter of days (i.e. less than a week). Trust me. :)

Hang in there!

97.1 AMP Radio request line in Los Angeles is 877.971.HITS as in "All the Hits"...doesn't seem like that is a good explanation why New York couldn't be AMP as well...

Seems there have been a bunch of domains registered as of late (anonymously)... Country923.com and US923.com were just registered on the 4th. Who knows if there is anything there.

Then there's Radio923NewYork.com - Anon too, but maybe similar to CBS's jockless alt rock in Cleveland. (cc has one too in philly) - Same date energy923.com was registered.

Something is happening.
