For those who follow the changing of stations and such on this board-- rumor on the street is that KVCE has now been leased to Salem Broadcasting, and that their programming will reflect more business and sports programming.

The Saturday morning sports show is rumored to be going daily from 7pm to 9pm with a rotation of host, including Robin V (who is from Jacksonville, Florida market)

The other rumor, again not that this matters to anyone-- Dave Michaels who has been mainly used as a news person on the air for KVCE and the station in Houston, KSEV, is said to have been terminated and that he will be leaving the station before the end of December.

I don't know him -- only listen to him while flipping through the AM stations every once in a while-- he sounds pretty good and solid-- anyone know anything else about him?

Since Scott Wilder was already popped by Salem, and is currently on 1160, does this mean he gets fired again?

Scott works for IRN/USA Radio. KVCE just carries his show.

Wonder why Salem would lease anothe AM station. Very Strange

Salem is apparently launching a bunch new business stations. It registered a bunch of moneyradio<frequency>.com domains several months ago.

Are they (Salem) still hooked up with the Fraud Frish in Houston?

I don't know who they are partnering with. It appears to be new format they are rolling out...

I assume, from the original posts, if they are leasing KVCE and plan to put business talk on there, it's part of this strategy.

This sounds like something they would do........

Just thought I would chime in on this thread-- someone alerted me to it-- KVCE is indeed LMA'd to Salem beginning January 1st-- they will be more Business oriented with their programming-- so that would mean that they have shows that they are not able to air on their other properties and that 1160 will give them another outlet for those shows...

As for the sports show that goes nightly-- that will be an 8pm to 10pm time slot-- and for the most part-- with their signal powering down at sunset (even during the summer months) their signal will barely reach south of I-30 its more northward-- with their stick in Lewisville.

And I appreciate the compliment that someone mentioned earlier-- they are always nice to hear!

Just a thought!

I wanted to take a moment to wish my friend, Dave Michaels, Godspeed as he searches for his next endeavor. Friday, December 17, 2010, is indeed David's last day with KVCE - he's been there for the last 2+ years, and due to KVCE being LMA'd to Salem, he has been let go.

I've been in this business for longer than I care to remember at times, but I must say, without any reservation whatsoever, that Dave Micheals is one of the most professional and passionate broadcasters that I have ever had the honor of working with; David, I for one will miss your banter and quick wit - and I pray that you'll be able to find your next opportunity quickly.

Take Care Buddy.

Curious that Salem is trying to make a mark in business radio -- a format that, with one exception, has never gotten more than a one share in any market at any time over the past 25 years since its creation. Then again, considering it's Salem, no surprise... :D

I couldn't agree more. Dave Michaels is a true professional. I, too, have had the pleasure of working with Dave, and echo the sentiments of radiopropd.

Good luck Dave!
