Why is it again that the Quad-Cities market has but one CHR station, yet Quincy Illinois has two station, Y101 and Real 92.3 and a third station transmitting from Burlington Iowa on 97.3FM that could possibly be picked up in the area as well?
I know, I know, the Quad-Cities is an older skewing market. I know, Cumulus and Clear Channel own the overwhelming majority of stations in this market But how is it that this area which has a lot less people in it can support two of them but we can supposedly barely support one. Remember the only reason Cumulus put B100 on 99.7 is because they knew CC was gonna have to spin 98.9 due to new regulations.

The Quad Cities doesn't have ANY CHR stations. I don't count B100 as a CHR station anymore. Wait. I take that back...Adult CHR fits B100. They are playing a ton of gold...and not many currents. I don't think they are playing a good 10 songs that are in the top 40. I think Blu Cantrall - Hit 'Em Up Style is in their Top 10. They play it every night now.

I think Z 102.9 sounds a lot fresher than B100. Kiss FM and Power 92.3 in Peoria do too...as does Real 92.9 in Quincy, Hot 97-3 in Burlington and 101.5 WBNQ in Bloomington/Normal.

Iowa makes me think of old grandmas driving Buick Park Avenues...so B100 should fit in just fine...as long as the old grandmas remember to pop in their hearing aids and continue to crank up B100.

None of the stations will make any changes in the near future. It costs too much money, which many stations don't have.

Just my thoughts.

:)

B100 used to be so go0d. Back in 2000-2001, they were playing a lot of fresh new music, lots of dance tracks, and Saturday nights were a must listen. Sounds like they've really fallen and lost their way.

funny how b100's ratings have gone up minus the 'mix shows'

guess the collective 'insider' info on this board is lacking.

not surprised.

For the record, neither Quincy station is really CHR. Y101 carries a syndicated CHR show in the evenings, and KGRC dayparts a live/local CHR during that same time. Otherwise they are Hot AC. 97.3/Burlington does not reach Quincy reliably. Damn I miss 99Q.
