I have to agree with you. Bruce seems like a very nice / likable guy, but he IS NOT a news reporter. A good Pilot, a good airborne traffic guy, LOUSY On Scene Reporter. Yesterday's story on the missing treasure hunters at Lost Dutchman's Mine for example, he himself seemed lost at times. Along with stating the obvious, "the terrain is rugged, and the heat is dangerous" He proceeded to tell the story about the history of how the lost dutchman got it's name... NOT the best time to tell viewers about the LOST DUTCHMAN, when search crews are trying their best to find folks who are likely in danger. If Bruce doesn't have a story about cars, traffic, or planes, then we in the valley can expect more awkwardness, and more time filling non-sense from someone who needs to take some classes in TV news journalism. This is NOT a knock on Bruce, it's CH 3 who gave the position to Bruce by default when the Helicopter was taken away. In the end, we as viewers will have to deal with Bruce's Internship in entry level news. Tomorrow's lesson: Brevity.
PS: On a side note, Gina's does a good job doing traffic, but why in the hell do they not give her any more time to announce it? Her 5am report yesterday I swear must have been 20 seconds, and she did it so fast, I couldn't understand her, which is a shame because I'd rather hear real-time traffic announced more often than the weather, where the very cute April spends nearly 8 minutes announcing weather in her texas twang, and repeats the process every other 8 minutes... The Best Format for morning news in the valley is CH 5, and I've made the switch.
