Notes as I'm watching the Couric Train Wreck

Ok, lets lay this out....

Has Katie Couric ever worked a beat? Homicides? The Courts? um...Animal Control?

Was Managing Editor Couric filing reports on newscasts, at least in market 199?

Worked a beat?

Is being a Pentagon coorespondent a beat? Seems like a pretty substantial one, actually.

Filing reports in market 199? My math may be rusty, but I think Washinton DC (WRC) and Miami (WTVJ) are a little higher on the scale than market 199 (where she was a reporter).

If those are your criteria, then yeah, someone who worked up from being a desk assistant to an assignment editor to a local reporter to a network reporter and fill-in morning host has put in some real broadcast journalism work to achieve the position she has now.

Give Katie a break. Shes new to this. Everyone is always such a critic, but I would like you to see how you do on the NATIONAL NEWS. No one says you have to watch it anyways. If you dont like it you can watch Charles Gibson or Brian Williams.
