Nothing Here Has Changed

I was so fed up with the inanity of the WRKO discussion that I hadn't checked in since Thanksgiving. I was hoping for one of two things: that either the discussion would have moved on to a new, more intelligent phase, or that, at least, some of the participants would have come up with something new to say about the same topic. I have been dissappointed.

Here's what I know: Casablance and his buddy Panago don't like either Julie Kahn or Jason Wolfe. If you do not believe this, check any, and I mean ANY, thread that makes even the vaguest allusion to WRKO and you will hit upon well-crafted thoughts like these:

"How can the "suits" at Entercon let the "Snow White" and "Dopey" get away with their total incompetence? Is there no Prince or Princess to come to the rescue ?" - Casablanca 12/05

"just shows how stupid jason & julie truly are, but everybody's watching, and they are destroying their reputations in boston for sure..." - Panago 12/14

"julie's hopeless!!" - Panago 12/08

"BORING TALK RADIO From Julie "The Executioner" Kahn and her dwarfs." - Casablanca 12/03

"julie has many pals to reward!! everybody gets a turn!!" - Panago 12/04

"'rko is far worse and there was no good reason for it other than julie & jason's screwups.." - Panago 12/05

"The Executioner and Shorty..." - Casablanca 12/01

"Msssss. Kahn, aka, "The Executioner". No wonder she gave him a mic of his own. Only question is - what did Bailey give Kahn" - Casablanca 11/29

"A "rose" by any other name is a "Wolfe" [EDIT-inflammatory]" - Casablanca 12/01

"julie kahn killed 'rko.." - Panago 12/01

So, in sum, these two have nothing to contribute to these conversations but, well, nothing. I barely care about WRKO to begin with, but these two guys make me want to take the station's side all the more. Honestly, there will be a string of intelligent discussion followed by a Casanago contribution that derails the whole thing.

It is tired and used. It is boring and unimaginative. And above all, it is immature and unnecessary.

By the way, I'm sure one of the first posts in reply to this will be the one that either accuses me of being Jason, being a "henchman", or an otherwise heartless dilettante. Fine. Have at it. It will be just more of the same, won't it?

Sorry to offend your sensibilities but Kahn deserves all the critical reviews she has been getting. Yes, this poster has used charged words to describe her actions. You don't fire an entire news staff days before Thanksgiving without facing the consequences.

Though we don't know if that decision came from corporate HQ in Bala Cynwyd, PA, or not...maybe it was a local decision, who knows. They had to cut corners with the big Sox contract, though that should produce some
revenue. (That said, it was very sad to see the newsies laid off.) See the thread on the new broadcast team btw...and note that weekday afternoon games and
_Wed night_ (we'd heard Fri night, before) games will air on 850 instead. But 'RKO will have some 1 pm
spring training games that will mean first part of Howie's show will be pre-empted. Not sure if WCRN--a Howie
affiliate that ALSO has the Sox--will carry Grapefruit League action or not.

>>>I was so fed up with the inanity of the WRKO discussion

what's worse is julie's brand of "soft" talk radio

Critical reviews? Really? That's what you think midget jokes and mysoginistic humor is? Critical review is what everyone else is doing while Casanago is busy with the elementary school junk.

If listening to you two are the consequences, I think she, and anyone over the age of 12 for that matter, can handle it.

Were you expecting this site to change?

obviously not, given your reactions...

Uncle A - doncha see - these guys are the John Depetro's of radio-info! One trick ponies who belch their contempt into the public square without any growth or variety - same statements over and over in pavlovian response to the WRKO calls. They must be very frustrated over their careers and specific experiences with the big 68, as they never mention talk radio in general or 96.9. All their venom is spent on the folks who are doing well in their careers at entercom.

Radio-Info, where slander means never having to say you're sorry!

Maybe she should have been called "a good German" and leave it at that. As to the other, those who have worked with him say he demonstrates all the negative personality - read that persecution aspects - of some vertically challenged individuals.

Where's the mysoginy? I don't think anyone has called her out for being a woman, just a stupid person. Stop playing the chromozone card. ::)

Maybe, Uncle Arnie, just maybe nothing has changed here because we are a reflection of what we hear.

1)WRKO has not changed, so we in this Blue State of Massachusetts are going to protest the annointing
of Queen Muffy, a woman who had not a snowball's chance in hell, a woman who WRKO ridiculed -
(exhibit a: the term M U F F Y ), then embraced her because - God forbid they should be objective
and give us something truly fair and balanced. Even Marjorie Clapprood would've been a breath of
fresh air during election time. It was Anti-Deval all the time. Until he won. Then Feinburg offered a little
olive branch for 3 seconds.

2)96.9 is a Johnny-come-lately that has failed. Sure, they've got Jay Severin to dip into Carr's numbers, but
there's nothing there to listen to. They should be taken to task for putting Margery Eagen on the air.
For "liberal talk" they give us a woman who can't. That is taking advantage of her disability to make the
Conservatives - oh, excuse me, the faux liberTAHRians sound better...

3)Panago and Casablanca do sound like they are playing ping pong with each other, and I wish Paul would
chill on the anti-Scotto anti-Jason bits by hitting below the belt. Funny once or twice is ok, but it does
get tedious and takes away from our argument: that WRKO is THE BORE STATION. YAAWWWWN.

Nothing will change as long as they put junk like Castiglione on as the Red Sox play-by-play host, and as
long as Todd Feinburg grabs as much weektime as they will throw at him.

Awful radio. Boring radio. Dreadful radio. Put on ED SCHULTZ

WRKO will change when Casablanca does.

If WRKO hired Casablanca, I would then throw my radio out the window.

Talk radio is boring across the board. Arguing about which show is more boring is like trying to tell the difference between beige and khaki.

It all depends on one's point of view. One's taste in music; whether or not one enjoys talk shows, or
sports, or whatever. Some of us find the banter about talk shows interesting.

I thought the windows in the sneakers building were sealed?

>>nothing there to listen to

Well, Laura Ingraham does a great show IMHO; she had some funny soundbite contests yesterday. John and Jeff can be entertaining. Tell you what V-man: tell Entercom to pick up Ingraham and air her live on 'RKO at 9 am and have Greater Media introduce
"Deval 96.9" with the likes of Miller, Schultz, Hartmann, et al. Of course thanks to the huge contract they
gave Jay that won't happen...

Oh and btw they had Jimmy Myers filling in for Graham the past couple nights.

And...I heard a female voice doing the sports flashes (her name was Jamie something) on Mike Adams'
WEEI show last night. ("...consider yourself flashed" is how she ended her updates.) Usually WEEI
is all male. Diversity...

Here's the problem with Laura Ingraham and it's indemic to WKKK 96.9 FM - she's just another Ann Coulter or Sean Hannity, they speak the talking points.

Randi Rhodes might be speaking to the opposite crowd on the opposite end of the spectrum, but Randi veers off from the talking points and takes her own stand. She's on a new crusade this week, but it isn't the usual
Progressive proceed with caution approach. Rhodes is far more appealing to both Progressives and Conservatives. Conservatives can dislike her, but she doesn't go out of her way to be hateful. It's more tongue in cheek when she attacks Bush, because it is a "you understood" kind of thing.
