Wow! I tuned out too early I guess... Are you sure you weren't listening to KEOM? ;)

just kidding Robert... ;D

What irks me as much as this list, is the Texas music they DO play. For every cool Delbert or Arc Angels tune you havent heard on the radio in ten years, you get 3 of the tiiiiiired ZZ Top or SRV "hits". Bo n Jim are still not funny. Dillon is dull as ever. And how many times can Redbeard tell ya he recorded tunes in Mellencamp's garage?

I'm a hip hop and r&b guy, but I listened to this station the other day and enjoyed it. I thought you liked Bo & Jim, and Jon Dillon and the rest. Never satisfied..... ::)

buc,

since you are an r&b guy you may be able to answer this... Is Sade coming out with anything new anytime soon?

Jeff, you might want to check your milk carton for Sade.... She's been out of the game for a while. Would be nice to hear her again.

It's possible I chuckled at Bo & Jim...back in '89. They're tired old dinosaurs now. Same with Dillon and Redbeard. I realize it's part of the presentation of that station...but it's so damn predictable when the jocks start talking...Bo & Jim are gonna yuck it up a bit...Dillon is gonna read a liner verbatim...and Redbeard is gonna tell you how cool it was to sit down with __________ back in whatever year.

1. Sade has been MIA for a while, largely because she wasn't getting good returns on the ticket sales (which is why her band split and some of those bass riffs - a la "Sweetest Taboo" - are more difficult to pass on than you think). Part of the band formed a splinter group called "Sweetback" or something like that. Imagine the music without the voice. :-\. Good thing she has fashion to fall back on.

2. About Lonestar's playlist, nothing says TEXAN MUSIC like Clapton, Etheridge, Stewart and Rafferty. Good on ya', Shotgun Willie. ;D

Personally, for a Lonestar kind of station, I would rather here these folks played:
MICHAEL MURPHEY (Preferring everthing up through LONE WOLF)

SHAWN PHILLIPS

BLOODROCK

Yeah, that's what I think.. :)

I like it! Maybe a little Steve Fromholz, too. But going a little further, what common thread links these artists?

Asleep at the Wheel, Balcones Fault, Elvin Bishop, David Bromberg, Roy Buchanan, Jimmy Buffett, Captain Beefheart, Charlie Daniels Band, David Allan Coe, Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen, Ry Cooder, Joe Ely, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Kinky Friedman and the Texas Jewboys, Flying Burrito Brothers, Greezy Wheels, Emmylou Harris, John Hartford, It's a Beautiful Day, Jerry Garcia Band, Levon Helm, Bugs Henderson, Waylon Jennings, Freddie King, Little Feat, The Lost Gonzo Band, The Marshall Tucker Band, Delbert McClinton, Roger McGuinn, Maria Muldaur, Willie Nelson, New Riders of the Purple Sage, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Jean-Luc Ponty, John Prine, Linda Ronstadt, Doug Sahm, Boz Scaggs, Sonny Terry & Brownie McGee, Toots & the Maytals, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bob Weir, Johnny Winter and ZZ Top

They all played the 'dillo. And because they did, there's a helluva lot more of a Texas connection on the list than you'll hear on the present Train Wreck 92.5, which jumped the tracks months ago.

The Armadillo ! ! I would add Bonnie Raitt and Dave Mason to that list...

And, let's not forget that famous farming song "Montana" by Mr. Frank Zappa.
That would be a real treat for 92.5! Heard it on 93.7 before they became "Classic Rock"...

Just looking at their song log makes me crazy! ZZ Top and the Eagles at least every other hour. Not to mention the Gerry Rafferty thrown in every now and then :-\

I guess that keeps the alcoholics placated and in their comfort zone... ? ? ?

I've got an idea ! ! ! How about a local radio station that caters to those that love music first... instead of those that love the blessed alcohal first, and then everything that comes with that.

Ooooops, there I go meddling with trade and commerce.... again !!!

Rove,

Are you still nursing your NYE hangover? Didn't you mean alcohol? ;D ;D ;D

Has anybody noticed Lonestar has been running jockless? What's the story here??
