Noticed KHFI has less hip hop now.

KHFI is playing more top 40 now and less hip hop it seems like. Is it because of they don't want to compete any against the beat? (since both is by the same company?)

In my opinion there is a very thin line between "top 40" and commercial hip hop.

If you look at the majority of top 40 across the country it is filled with a large chunk of Hip Hop in it. Thus creating a merge between the two genres.

In 2010 the Hip Hop stations are playing the same records as top 40 along with a few more hardcore songs that top 40 will not touch.

Having said that.... if what you say is true KHFI is veering away from a true top 40.

My 2 cents.

The same program director -- Jay Shannon -- is over Kiss and the Beat, so it makes sense that he might try to differentiate them some.

I know my opinion means nothing. But if I oversaw both those stations I too would try to differentiate them as well.

I say Shannon has done a great job into getting the Beat away from a top 40 sounding "Hip Hop station" Thank god he dropped seacrest from that station. For a lil while there it made no sense calling yourself Hip Hop and playing pop songs and have a huge pop culture icon like seacrest on it. Luckily for the ATX Hip Hop fans, that has all changed.

**thumbs up**

KHFI is sounding pretty good now. They are playing more dance and top 40 in the rotation. and like I said lot less hip hop.

I love Kiss FM, I know that they are basically the same as Mix (I just prefer Kiss FM their Jingles are the authentic brand etc)

But I just wish that they didn't play those syndicated shows on the weekend and that their website wasn't so dull.. If you go to KDWB and KIIS and Kiss108's website you'll see how much creativity they have and how much out Top40 CC station sites lack...
