Nova Mess Part One -- on the Tucson Observer blog

Oh, c'mon.

If you read this thing, the blogger moved halfway across the country on the advice of a caller to a talk show and the word of a "producer" (board-op) that he/she would presumably get on the air.

Would you do that? And, on the horrifying premise that you would actually do such a thing, would you seriously expect a real job to be waiting for you?

Nova M undoubtedly made lots-o-mistakes/errors in judgement/boneheaded moves. But this ain't one of them.

But you never talked to the PD, right? Nor to the GM, right? And no compensation was discussed, right? And no one said "We've got a deal," right? And still you moved 2,000 miles? You're a very trusting soul. Best of luck to you.

You may have the last word on this subject. I'm done.

You guys can't see the forest for the trees. It's not just Daevid who wasn't paid at NOVA-M - it was several others. Currently, former NOVA-M CEO John Manzo is Suing the Drobnys because they didn't pay him severance from his firing in Sept. 2008 to the end of his contract (June 2009).

It's a classic case of Chicago political corruption. It's not a right (you radio info dudes) vs. left (Daevid and the other NOVA hosts) issue.

These are all good people in radio - who just happen to be on the left - screwed by corrupt people from Chicago.

Manzo lawsuit, Phoenix, suing over lack of severance package and damage to reputation:

the pd jeff farias, the one who "never spoke of compensation" and was fired soon afterward, that horrible evil man, said on his show from the 17th that the drobny's were mainly the ones who brought down nova m. there was no communication between the two of them. one person could have been fired by shelly and then rehired by anita in a matter of hours or vice versa.

so in other words, i would believe jeff farias (and therefore indirectly king mackenzie, sean ryan, and sarge bourne, two of whom essentially are confirming what jeff has said previously) over anything the drobny's have ever said. if they told me the chicago national league baseball club were also known as the cubs and play baseball at wrigley field, i would check with major league baseball to make sure they were telling the truth.

any job, particularly in radio, get it in writing before moving, and get some money up front. Otherwise, send them audio, or phone it in. Maybe these people should go to the labor commissioner if they can't find an attorney.
