It has been awhile since we last had a good rumor thread ;D so I decided to pass along a little information that may be of interest.

On Facebook Thursday Tom Leykis posted, "Who will you turn to when Santa Claus takes your favorite music radio station hostage for the holidays? Find out on Monday, November 15th at 7 AM PT."

Any thoughts?

Doesn't KOST start that early? Or is it November 26th?
 
How does Tom even know this? And what is our favorite station?
 
Tom Leykis is profiled in Randall Bloomquist's 10/28/10 News Talk Edge Newsletter available on this site. Tom talks about his internet endeavor "New Normal Network" along with strategies for the internet/digital age. Tom's website notes that the "Tom Leykis Show" will return 4-2-2012 as a podcast and/or stream on his website.

Doubt he's touting an over the air station coming in to go after KOST, but then again that is the anniversary of KOST going to an all hit format. It was November 15th 1982. Then again, Tom knows and respects Jhani Kaye and one theory could be that KTWV could go full blown AC on that date. There's no telling when KOST will go to their holiday format, but over the last few years it's been close to that date, sometimes before and sometimes after. This would be a good time to debut an AC format against KOST and Kaye knows that and he could choose that date for it's historical significance. Could be an interesting battle about to be fought. Then again it's only speculation at this point.

I'm guessing that whatever station he is referring to will be doing the Christmas Music format starting on November 15th. "Santa Claus taking your favorite .... station hostage for the holidays".
That would be my guess.

Nothing to see here (or hear), move along.
 
Tom Leykis is another has been. Have you seen his twitter page? 1k followers for a guy that was on the air for nearly 20 years. I think people have moved on. Nobody is going to go out of their way to listen to him on his podcast. Adam Carolla has one of the top podcasts and he makes no money.

I think Tom or a friend of his (yea, I know it's a stretch) may have read this as on Tom's page it now says ...

"There are now officially too many registered "friends" here. Listeners who don't know me personally should become a fan at The Tom Leykis Show page or follow me on ... "

Seriously, how many friends are too many friends on facebook? ;)
 
Maybe I'm off track here, but I really think Tom may be referring to KTWV going full-blown AC. It's a very real possibility. I've left voicemail for a friend at CC Burbank to see if he has a take on it, but haven't heard back. I know someone at CBS as well and will see what they know. Time will tell...
 
Christmas time must bring fond memories to Tubby Tom, like his being arrested for tossing his then wife in the fireplace at their Massachusetts home after the WRKO Christmas party a few years back.

I wonder how those court ordered domestic violence sessions were?
