104.7 up despite declining cume, the lowest in the top 12 stations actually.... the conservatives are glued to the radio apparently (or maybe it's Ellis Cannon...)...

B was up and Kiss didn't feel any impact...

Too soon for any idea on the Q move to lukewarm AC and the Christmas music on WSHH and 3WS (although they did both start it in late November)....
 
Judging by the numbers both stations got, they look healthy but WKST still has the edge over WBZW. I've also noticed that ever since WAMO's departure that both stations seem to be increasing its Hip-Hop/R&B product to entice the former WAMO listeners.
 
I'd like to give a shout out to WEDO for showing up on the book.

Yes, it's something of an afterthought station. We're talking about people brokering time to play oldies or ethnic programming. It is hardly a station geared to anyone under 50.

But I had the opportunity recently to meet the people who ran the station and found them to be longtime broadcast professionals- and professionals in every sense of the word.

As such, I'd like to say, again, congrats for making the book!
 
Now, I have a question.

It's my understanding the rating (say 10.9) is a percentage of the radios tuned into a station, while the CUME is the total amount of listeners during a week or so.

How does it add up, then, that WDVE's rating went up a point but their CUME gain was negligible?

Could I also ask when the ratings book for November end? Am I to believe what used to take a month to record is now complied in just four days?

The time spent listening went up (Steeler games, pre-and post-game shows...). Cume is how many tune in, then you figure out how long they listen and that's your AQH share.

If your question is how can it be tabulated so quickly, it's all electronic, just a matter of running a report as opposed to reading paper diaries and inputting data.

ratings. (They may have been running Arthur Godfrey at the time.)

Like 770, I always suspected 810 had a "phantom cume" problem. The PPM eliminated that. Why no WLSW? Have
they installed an encoder yet?

A clarification on the time frames involved from one of my programming friends....

The "November" book actually covered Oct 15 - Nov 11. So there is still a 2-3 week lag in data. With PPM there are now 13 monthlies each year, all 4 weeks long. The 13th month is called the "Holiday" book. This year it runs from Dec 10-Jan 6.

The last time WEDO showed up in the ratings was the Winter 1994 book. They registered a 0.3 share then.
