November PPM's

  • WDAS holds steady in first place (8.3 - 8.7 - 8.7).
  • WMGK jumps almost a full point (6.3 - 7.2) and I can't remember them being quite that high.
  • BEN-FM more-than-rebounds (3.3 - 2.9 - 3.7).
  • Q102 rebounds as well (3.4 - 2.8 - 3.3).
  • WRTI cracks a 2 for the first time in God-knows-when (1.6 - 1.8 - 2.1).
  • WRFF is now below a 2 share for the possibly the first time (2.5 - 2.3 - 1.9). Maybe it really is time for the fork.
If there's anything else of interest, I don't see it.

WRFF's numbers do worry me (especially since it's been well-documented that it bills so low). A combo of not great Alternative music at the moment, and with iHeart taking what little life the station felt like it had as Radio 104.5 and completely blanding it out even more as Alt 104.5. (Anyone got morning numbers to see if the Woody show has gained ANY traction?)

Cool to see Ben and WOGL battle it out in the Adult/Classic Hits area (though it's sad to see WOGL fall enough to even have competition.

A sign of life for WTDY?

Stick a form in WRNB at this point? What else could/would Radio One do with that signal?

The Gambler pulling in only 8,700 listeners. Again, what else to do with that signal?

Maybe Move Classix to 100.3? Although it's doing alright. But 107.9 is not a strong signal and it's beating 100.3 signal? It's time to make a decision

its clear that the lower rated commercial stations, like 100.3, 1210, 104.5, 96.5 may have to change formats at some point. You can only go on for so long with a format, even if its making money. I know audacy, radio-one and Iheart are got to be asking is it really worth the money and time and effort put in to keep these low rated formats going in this market or not. Ratings matter as to long term survival of a format. low ratings can easily cause radio stations to change formats in addition to the other usual reasons.

Here's a wild card. What about audacy buying 100.3 and put KYW on it and audacy shut down or sell 103.9. I think it would be a win for KYW to reach the whole Delaware valley on 100.3 than what they have right now on 103.9. image of 100.3 signal below.

What does audacy do with 1210 now? They made the new changes, it hasn't worked. Do they throw the white towel with this format after 25 years or not? They lost 18,900 in cume in the new book after gains the last 5 books in cume. I know mentally, that's the question that has to be asked at this point, do they change formats and start over anew or not. If they do, the only logical option to keep it a commercial major AM station is sports, unless they go non commercial and go all religion. It's something to think about guys and gals.

They continue doing talk.
Many successful money making stations do change formats for various reasons, ratings one of them and other reasons, too many to list. We really don't know what audacy is going to do with 1210 AM. all we doing is speculating . Stay tuned as they say.

We'll see. I wouldn't bet on it. Nothing is safe in radio.
What other option is available? Sports migrated to FM, so the even marginally profitable formats, talk and news, are all that are left for FM. And even the news station has a minor FM presence.

The is no other format suitable for a big signal AM unless they sell it to a religious or ethnic group.

It will not shock me if that happens. Before the year is over or in 2022. Its at that point now where audacy will have to do something. I'm sure audacy is thinking about this in the back of their minds. I'm sure listeners and employees would not be happy with this but it will not be surprising if audacy gives up on 1210 AM given what has happened to the station towards the end of wcau and post-wcau. It reminds me of 610 AM in san fran, it was a major commercial station for decides but it was sold to Family radio.

This is the lowest WRFF has been since their birth over 14 years ago, very sad and disappointing, no need for a once great station to become such a shell of its former self. At one point their immediate success attracted stations in other markets to copy them. IMHO Woody is the main reason, why did they ever replace Johnny, who's music intense mornings had great ratings for 13 years. Also replacing their original start up library, Linkin Park, Pistols, Better than Ezra, Screaming Trees, Flys, Tool, Paramore, Muse, MCR, Modest Mouse, Killers, NIN, Silversun Pickups, AFI, Papa Roach, Korn, 3 days grace, Pumpkins, Buckcherry, and more, with this soccer mom, chicken safe alternative, if you even can call it that.

To the poster who stated buying 100.3 and placing KYW on it and selling 103.9, I would suggest if that happened it would be nice if the owners of WMMR would buy it shut it down then have the green light to move 93.3 to the antenna farm with most of the other FM signals and finally get them out of center city where they have been for ages....
