"Now 97.5" Christmas stream running on WPEN-FM's HD2

Just as they did last year, WPEN-FM's HD2 is running the "Now 97.5" Christmas music stream ...
Anyone else find this a little strange ?

I did. I called the engineering dept to tell them to reset their routers, and was told management set it up that way.

About 8:30 tonight, it was an open carrier...but the RDS still displayed that it was playing Christmas music. Bring back the Classical!!

PS - I hope the "BOLD TYPE" is indeed beneficial for the board-viewers... thought I'd take a ride on the bandwagon for a stretch...

Yeah, HD radio has a massive audience A lot like UHF TV, circa 1957. But, UHF eventually caught on (better transistorized UHF converters, bigger ERP of the stations, requirement that UHF tuners be included in TV's). HD won't be as lucky. I own a tuner because I am a radio geek! I also own an AM stereo tuner (see, I really am a geek!). Poor signal + few receivers = failure.

Nothing like hearing Christmas music on a 75 degree day. 2 years ago was the best early Christmas format flip. High of 85 degrees in St Louis on October 10, 2008, and Movin' 101.1 started playing Christmas music on that day.

Yeah I heard they were going to cancel Christmas in Florida and California and other warm
areas. It's just not the same without snow.

Anyone have any thoughts on who might become the Christmas music station in Atlantic and Cape May County? With so many hit music stations now in Atlantic City, will one of those 3 or 4 make the flip?

The question is which station in Monmouth & Ocean will flip to Christmas now that WJRZ is gone? You think Greater Media will let Magic be the Christmas format, or will WOBM and/or The Breeze take advantage of WJRZ's fall?

Given GM's looove of all Ho Ho Ho, WJRZ will still go all Xmas this year most likely.

And will still fail at doing any damage to WOBM or The Breeze. It's like watching Wiley E. Coyote vs the Roadrunner....'cept not as funny.
