Well,...with over 150 views on my last thread, with no replies.....maybe I need to quit eatin' onions, and brush my teeth. I thought that you'all wanted to Dee-skuss this astray biz named Radio! Now, I scare Consultants almost as bad as Maury Povitch, with a handful of manilla envelopes scares the Jackson family,...but y'all need to chill, and let's talk!

Since both AC's in this market went to a made-easily-affordable Sydi-cast, we must either understand that they were willing to try anything, but still, needed to change what was certainly not working......or buy some time. I have been listening to Ace & T.J., on MY102, and it is the worst of the two....Just Awww-ful, but then again, I'm not supposed to like it. It might be the thing, if you are a young female,....but if you find a guy listening to this, then feel free to say whatever you you want....because he couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag, with two ice picks, and a light saber....Obie Wan Wimpilton! The Playlist is today's Hot AC, which to me, is Horse Manure, sprinkled with Rap Crap. MAGIC, clearly has the best Playlist, but it is overplayed. Ace & T.J.: two guys talking, with (again) a Gal referee. Two guys that really aren't Broadcasters, but former stand-up comedians, that are tired of the road circuit. I can't see either show workin', but again, maybe their both just buying some time, until a real....planned Heavy-hitter gets here. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

Well, I don't care for Ace & TJ either but I think with crap like The Rise Guys doing well, it will serve its purpose.

As far as playlists, I disagree that Magic's playlist is better. It certainly has improved but you really can't even compare it to MY. MY's target demo is now different. And it sounds darn good for a Hot AC IMO.

Not sure where you're getting the "rap crap". Most of it is pure pop and adult alternative. It may be horse manure to the older demo, but it's a nice in between for those who don't like B (which has turned more rhythmic lately) and the generally slower mix on Magic. MY plays very little rhythmic and only sporadic ballads. Instead, it's mostly upbeat pop rock for those in their 30s and 40s IMO.

Magic and MY will continue to be compared but there really is a significant difference in what each SHOULD be playing for their respective formats. Magic is making changes for the better, but it won't be the same as MY and shouldn't be.

Personally, it's nice to have a middle ground station.

The God of White Trash speaks again. Sort of.

The music playlist during Ace and TJ varies from station to station. As it is different music on 102.5 and Channel 96.1.

The advantage of former comedians is that at least they're funny, and know how to entertain. I'd rather have a former comedian than a former broadcaster any day.

Well...

Every time I pass by My 102.5 on the dial, I hear upbeat pop songs -- just what the market needs, as another poster said... except the songs are six months, a year, two years old. Seriously, to this listener, My sounds like it wants to be hip and cool, but really doesn't know how. Kind of like how many of us dress. The music is mixed in a way that the energy isn't there, too. Songs sound tired, strained and uncool. A great idea, but not executed well.

Then there's the audio quality. I'm all for nice dynamic range and minimal processing, but the station sounds like it has NO processing. I recently heard "Diamonds" on My and it sounded awful; shortly later I was scanning and the same song was playing on JAMZ. Sounded major-market. Whole different game. That's sad. Years ago, My had the best audio in the area, bar none.

That's odd. Almost seems like you are listening to a different station. MY isn't perfect and isn't my favorite station. But they're quite agressive when it comes to new music.

I've heard them play pop songs before B93.7 plays them on the CHR side and alternative songs before X98.5.
Sure they play some older songs. They are 90s to now so that's to be expected. But I'm usually very surprised with how quick they are with new adds. And I never thought I'd ever hear MY playing edgier music like Weezer's latest single "Back to the Shack".

I DO agree with you that the presentation could be better and more energetic. They could learn a thing or two from Star 94 In Atlanta.

Well,...did a little more listening today, but I can't say that I was entertained.....by "My Robot"! Bit/buffer/traffic/weather/buffer/song/re-join buffer/bit/buff-out/stop-set.... A little bit of a role flip, as the two were beatin' up on the Gal referee, as she couldn't do something, and they had to rag her about such a short-coming.....listeners are just eves-dropping on what they have to say.......it gets old,...quick!

A few posts back, we can see once again the embryo wisdom of his "A"-ness. Boob that he is, all the good Live morning shows ran the litmus test on Comedians, years ago. We found out that the list was short, when it came to putting them on the air, with you, at 7:15am. There were one's that worked: James Gregory, Killer Bees, Jeff Foxworthy, Grant Turner, and my good friend, the late Tim Wilson. Others were Old....sleepy, mono-tone, wanting to tell Fart jokes, and always too busy hitting on my female interns, to promote the Club that they were at, that week. No!...Broadcasters are miles above Comedians....we can do their job, but they can't do ours!

Well,...did a little more listening today, but I can't say that I was entertained.....by "My Robot"!

The question you need to ask yourself is this: Am I their intended audience? Because I'm not entertained by a lot of things, but the reality is they're not aiming what they do at me. And I respect that. On the other hand, if I am their intended audience, it's very likely that others in my group also aren't entertained, and sooner or later, they will be gone.

Supplemental, adding to my last post: As I had clearly stated earlier, No, I am not the intended audience of either of this market's AC stations,....and No, I'm not supposed to like it! However, I know the Radio Business quite well, and what I am finding fault with,....Ain't Gonna Work. In regards to me comparing them to Stand-up Comedians, verses Broadcasters, I feel that's a smug fit. When the Mike & Scooter Radio show agreed to Promote the Punchline Comedy Club, by featuring that's week's line-up Live on Tuesday mornings, most of them failed,....as we took them out of their "Element", and only the real good ones could Adapt! ...Could not adapt to the time, the fact that it was a non-smoking building, and told that they were they to promote their act, and the Club,....and not to ask Heather, one of our interns, for her phone number.

The two AC morning show Sydi-cast hopefuls are just two or three monotone voices,....just talking. You can dress it up with all the buffers, and/or all the promos that you feel necessary, but you are just polishing....the poop!

i am not sure that anyone who posts here is in the target demo of that show but it is nice to think we are if you think you know what radio is last week it probably changed

It is at this point of our discussion, and after my attempts to understand the preceding post by freqy, that we collectively ask the site for the Grammercheck feature.
Aside from no upper case letters, commas must be kriptonite, to this Superman of the keyboard. My eyes have already fell off the end of the screen twice, in my efforts to deduce. I'll reload the coffee cup, and try again.
