Today I was up that way and they were broadcasting the stream from 102.9 the buzz in Nashville. Even if this is a legal translator, is it legal to do that? Signal lasted to just north of Cullman.

i think i've picked that up on my stereo out here south of town - (when trying to get mix 102.9 from gadsden). if you can legally pick it up - well - how did you now it was the stream?

There is a CP for a station on that frequency in St. Florian (the tower looks to be just to the east of Florence) operating under a CP, so it's possible they were testing the transmitter during the time you were listening.

10Kw @ 462'ish feet, so it's possible given good atmospheric conditions.

I lnew it was the stream because during breaks, they'd do PSAs and liners saying the nusic would be back shortly.
