"Now" Bay Area & Sacramento

I find it funny that CBS has 2 stations branded as "Now" in the Bay Area and Sacramento. They're totally different approaches of CHR so close on the dial, and both stations come in good east of the East Bay hills.

The Bay's 99.7 Now is a upbeat Rhythmic leaning CHR that has rap in their playlist, while Sacramento's Now 100.5 is a white-washed Adult CHR with the slogan "Today's hits without the rap". Even heard the old morning guy from 99.7 on Sacramento's Now 100.5.

I wonder if CBS even thought of this when re-branding Movin' 99.7 to "Now"?

In all actuality, they should've rebranded MOViN' 997 to 997 AMP Radio.

They had to make 100.5 'without the rap' otherwise it would 've been another KSFM.

Except that these radio brands have often meant different things in different markets. Obvious example - "Kiss-FM" is usually CHR - but not in some markets and not in the Bay Area.

BTW- just spent some vacation time in France and Spain. France has a Kiss-FM. Obviously no relation to any call sign. It appears to be their version of CHR. I tried to google what (if anything) the word "kiss" means in French and all I got back were definitions of French kissing.

100.5 might work well in East Bay, but not well at all here east of Sac.
