LaBarbara For President 2012! At least he won't need a teleprompter to come up with a cohesive thought, certainly an improvement over the current occupant of the White House! ;D

Teleprompters are nothing new dude. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...ate_of_the_Union_Address_to_Congress_1988.jpg

There are plenty of things to criticize about Obama, I just wish people used ones that were relevant.

They certainly beat writing on the palm of your hand!

That's just being folksy! Teleprompters are for elitists! ;D

Just one comment about this news: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I worked with Jim, good guy... best of luck in all he does. There are a lot of bad people in this industry, from what I saw he's not one of them!

I repeat: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. You didn't work with him.

I'll never forget the day I heard "The Music Professor" prattling on about Steely Dan ... I had no idea he was reading copy until he reached the name of their album, "Aja", ... he hesitated and pronounced it Ah-jah instead of "asia".

I always thought he had that stuff in his head. What a phony.

nicomp: One sign of a great communicator is the ability to relate information and make the listener believe in what he's saying, and you followed The Prof right along until he made an error, so I would say he succeeded in his communication art. Theater of the mind my friend. If you think any of the clowns you see doing national news on TV actually know 100-percent about what they are reporting you're crazy. They read what other people research and write, and make you believe that they are the fount of all knowledge. Same with entertainment show hosts and jocks in every city in this country. I could prattle on in the same vein but I won't.

MZY: I don't know you but I agree with you and I have worked with Jim at 2 different radio stations. To paraphrase Hank Williams, Jr. "Anybody here don't like Jim LaBarbara, you can kiss my @$$."

Nobody said they didn't like LaBarbara. Most everyone liked him, even when he did them wrong (which happened on a pretty regular basis). He's a likeable guy. He's not however, a guy who anyone who knows him well would want as their community outreach and communications director. Unless they want him to talk about Neil Diamond and Jackie DeShannon. Then he's good to go.

Give me a break. I remember that incident from probably 30 years ago when he was on WLW and I stopped listening to him after that regardless of what station he was on. He hardly succeeded.

I'm... Ron Burgundy? ;D

Years ago Stan Matlock and his "Magazine of the Air" used to tell all kinds of stories and I knew several people that truly believed if Matlock said it, it had to be true. Folks thought he was getting his stuff from our of his head also. What difference did it make?

I really doubt that Stan Matlock or any of those other guys had that stuff come from their heads. Most guys in radio work many long hours, when they are not on the air.
