Now Dig This!

I have talked with the general Manager of WCGO AM-1600 the subject had came up that the radio stastion is on the verge of buying out WKKD-AM 1580 kHz Aurora, Illinois another in hammond IN. by turning the format into 2 more wonderful nostagia adult standerd station sometime soon in the near future. Maybe they could have a nostagia adult standerd station come to chicago too. Who knows they might bring back the beautifull music again!!!...

I hope your are right. If you are in the west or northwest suburbs check out 1180 during the day. Its a nice alternative. However I doubt that the 1580 array will actually continue to stand whether 1590 gets their pwr update or not. Once that's gone, the next stop for 1580 is probably the quad cities or nowhere.

I saw this post and just wanted to say that what was posted is completely wrong.WCGO am1600 in Chicago Heights
am 1580 WKKD in Aurora, am1590 WONX in Evanston, and am 1600 WMCW in Harvard IL nw of Crystal Lake have
all been owned by Kovas Communications for years already. Kovas wants to move WCGO and WKKD out of the
Chicago area and raise the power on WONX. Originally they wanted to move the COL to Carol Stream and build
six towers in Aurora. That applicatoin was turned down. So now Kovas has applied for 7,000 watts from the
current WONX site in Skokie it would be non-directional days and 2500 watts directional nights. They want to shut
off the two 1600's and 1580 to facilitate this and guarentee you that if they do this it will not be an adult standards
format it will be another full time brokered foriegn language station(just what chicago needs) I really like WCGO
I listen to when I am in nw Indiana or the south suburbs, and iam under 30. I also listen to 1180 WSQR when I am
in the western suburbs.(I could probably hear it whereI live if am 1200 would shutoff their useless iboc)WSQR and
WCGO are the same syndicated nostalgia format from abc networks that add local news and weather during the day.
I wish we had afull time station like it that would cover the entire chicago area.

I do NOT live in neither north or south suberban ares, I live in Bedford Park in the vacinity of 63rd & Austin.
the home of the crappy ass radio stations that plays nothing but JUNK!!!...

Hey Superrabbit or anyone else who might be interested. at night tune your radio to am 740 from toronto.
they play big band swing oldies and standards. After 11:00 pm Chicago time they have "THE ALL NIGHT JUKEBOX"
which is automated and runs until 4:30 am If you live away from WGN,WBBM and WSCR in the Elk Grove VIllage
Itasca area it comes in pretty clear You get buzz from WGN iboc but if you adjust your radio you can hear it well
most nights. The station is also available online at WWW.AM740.CA I live in the Evergreen Park area and I can
listen on an old sony walkman so superrabbit you should be able to get where you live.

It would be nice if there was a radio station just like CHWO-AM 740 kHz Toronto, Ontario
"Memory Music Station" this station is like that what you listen to while driving on the
interstate expressway. We have a lot of highways here in chicago and throghout the state
of Illinois, at lease some where here in Illinois; there should be a 50,000 watt radio station
that play music like CHWO and they really should call it "Interstate Radio".

This way drivers on the interstate expressways can get toll information, road information, and
fast food restaurants along the interstate expressway. and drivers can listen to bice beautiful
music while driving on their long commute while on the expressway.

Just think of it! That's what we need! a station that should be just like CHWO during the daytime
hours as well into the night. Seriously! Lets Face It! There's nothing to listen to on the radio anymore!
