Now For The Latest News On WDXX/WHBB Selma

WDXX is getting a new tower. From what was said to me this morning at Raceway, that's all they're getting for now. No switch to Sports will be occurring. I was told this info from Mr. Bobby Brown and the owner(s) of the gas station was told this by Mr. Mike himself too. And yes WDXX will stay put here in Selma, from what was also said by these two people.

All of us was wondering about what we've been hearing and I'm so glad that everything has been cleared up and was properly explained to us.

WHBB isn't leaving. Everything they do now will stay put and with the current ownership. Those two same people told us all of that too.

Glad that my daily fill of Mr. Head of the Republican Party will not be leaving anytime soon. Glad that Rush will remain on our local airwaves.

Hope this clears up any confusion and/or any questions you may have had with the so called reported changes to these two stations.

Well, no matter what "Mr. Mike" says, they have secured studio space on Wall Street in Montgomery, and Bill Jones has been sneaking around setting up secret meetings trying to steal Bluewater and Cumulus staff, and he's also advertising for "Montgomery's Newest radio station in All Access and other trades. Maybe Mike thinks he can be "regional". "Central Alabama's Classic Country"? Oh, and let's not forget his upcoming deal with the "child molestor/felon" Mike Rice. Tawdry to say the least. Doesnt seem like same ol to me. Someone speaks with forked tongue!

Unless someone else can come along and explain the real truth, I will take your info as the Gospel truth.

Whatever does happen, I hope WDXX will have continued success.

If that "Felon" is getting involved, then Mr. Mike better watch himself.

That association might lead to his ultimate downfall.

Anyway, I will continue to surf by there and see what's happening.

I may not protest this station and/or WHBB after all.

Gotta keep on listening to my good friend Rush.

Still learn so much from this fellow.

R.D.P. <><

P.S. If your info is Gospel truth, when will this change occur?  Has a date been set for the changeover?  This Selma poster is curious.

B.T.W. If your sources are correct about Mr. Reynolds doing business with Mr. Rice, what relationship will they have with one another?  Just curious.

Looks like "Mr. Mike" is also going to "Cash Out" much of his Selma staff. http://www.al-ba.com/radiojobs.html (See WDXX Posting) I guess he gave Billy Boy Jones the green light to try and steal good talent from Bluewater/Others and give the ax to the current sales team and program director. You can "call" it a Montgomery station all you want, but you won't be able to fool the advertisers for long (if at all).... It is still licensed to SELMA and the signal just won't cut it to ever be a real Montgomery player.

Man this stinks to high heaven.

I don't like it at all.

Best of luck to WDXX or whatever they will soon be known as.

R.D.P. <><

P.S. And yes this station will never be a Montgomery player.  I will never accept them as one, due to their weak signal in West Montgomery.  Mr. Zach was right all along.  The winds will be severely blowing against WDXX or whatever they will soon be known as.  So sad indeed.

B.T.W. I have this strange feeling that Mr. Hank Sanders is going to soon snag WHBB and turn it into another Urban outlet.  Is this part of my prediction right or will Reynolds hang on to WHBB and keep things as is?  Just curious.

Really, how long are we going to keep playing this silly guessing game with WDXX?

Zero surprise if this 'new station' actually surfaces at the yet-to-debut WGMP 93.1 or WMRK 107.9, primarily because of their ownership situations within the Montgomery market (hello LMAs). Mind you, I haven't checked with any of my sources at Kangaroo or Murphy Oil, but...

Did sone checking on that link provided by Mr. Paul himself and it's going to be WDXX.

Any other radio station would be out of the question.

93.1 FM is going to be the new WACV Talk station, once it signs on.

The parked WGMP calls are moving over to the AM 1170/104.9 FM spot, after 93.1 FM hits the airwaves.

That info was just revealed by Mr. Gower, not too long ago.

For your question about WHBB: once DXX feeds the cows in Lowndes County and HBB is all alone to support itself in Selma, it will be intersesting to see how long it stays on the air.

It will be hard to for them to survive, as a standalone, should Reynolds hang on to this station.

If I was in his shoes, I would sell this station and not look back.

Let the folks over at WBFZ take over the operation and do Urban.

WHBB has always been doing some form of an Urban presentation, for as long as I've been living here.

That's been during these 41 years of my very existence.

R.D.P. <><

Now for some new thoughts on WHBB and what I wish for them to do:

Shut down this station and surrender the license.  You heard me right.  Don't even think about selling it.  This little 1000 watt standalone is going to be hard to sell on its own, unless someone were to do a FM relay of it and then market it as a FM station.  I know that shutting it down will hurt those like me who love Limbaugh and bring out protest from those that like the Jazz and Gospel blocks but that money will come in handy Mr. Reynolds, since WDXX will have a very hard time making it in Montgomery.  The signal on WDXX will hinder you from making any headway in the Gump.  The cows in Lowndes county won't be able to support you.  Selling off their meat parts and milk will make money but sadly it won't be enough to stay put.  Turning off WHBB will be the only logical way for you to survive in Montgomery.  Think of the money you'll save by performing this act.  That money can be used to pay those bills at your new home.  The ad spots won't be coming in too well, since the winds will be blowing very hard against you.  For the good of everyone reading, please do the right thing and shut down WHBB at once.  Face it sir, WDXX will never be a Montgomery player.  Say what you want but I will never accept WDXX as a Gump player due to a very weak signal.  Should've stayed put in Selma.  All that success is fixing to be flushed down the toilet.  Moving WDXX might have been a big mistake and it may hurt you in the long run.  To keep WHBB afloat is a big mistake.  You sir will be doing it at your own peril.  Forget about the protests and upset people.  Do the right thing and sign off WHBB.  It's the most logical thing to do.

Just my two cents.

Now if anyone wants to rebut me and express their thoughts on this, feel free to do so.

That includes my influences Bluewater and Alexander too.

93.1 FM is going to be the new WACV Talk station, once it signs on.

The parked WGMP calls are moving over to the AM 1170/104.9 FM spot, after 93.1 FM hits the airwaves.

That info was just revealed by Mr. Gower, not too long ago.

Gower has an agenda that is decidedly 'Bluewater friendly'. He could be making stuff up, or he could actually be in the know. Or, quite possibly, he could be in the know enough to resort to 'blowing smoke for a smokescreen'.

Either way, I think his eyes are red. I'd still watch out for 107.9 or 93.1.

I can tell that it will be WDXX.

I'm saying this because Mr. George Henry isn't on as often, doing the commercial spots.

When they do the weather reports, Mr. Henry is no longer telling the people who's supporting this hour's forecast.

One can only assume that he's been laid off and/or soon will be.

The sound quality hasn't been up to snuff lately.

Too much music, more than the legally required station ID's per hour and not that many commercial spots.

Been noticing these things over the past few days now.

It looks like WDXX is finally bailing out on Selma and moving to the cow pastures of Lowndes county within the next few weeks.

The signs are pointing in that direction.

R.D.P. <><

P.S. Even WHBB has been experiencing problems with their uplink to Rush.  They've been having moments of dead air, during his program.  This is leading me to believe that either WHBB is fixing to get sold to someone else and/or this station will go silent for good. Now if Mr. Reynolds were going to hang on to WHBB, he would fix that issue with Rush.  Since it has occurred over the past few days and no one seems to care about fixing it, that's the only logical conclusion I can come up with.

Nate, the 93.1 information is fact. Announcements of the slide down the dial from 107.9 to 93.1 will begin 8/1. Airdate 9/1. That is fact. It is not a secret. The staff and talk hosts have been told. Alexander already has a deal in place for 107.9. He can tell all of you what it is if he so chooses. No agenda here other than facts. That rimshot is a turd in a cowfield. A stand alone in Montgomery (even a half assed cluster) won't bill 500k per year. Mr. Mike has been fed a bill of goods by Jones. It ain't 1994 anymore. You can buy 1000 commercials on Cumulus for $1400. I've seen the package. What's Dixie gonna get, 50 cents? This whole idea is bizarre. And to go in debt 1,000,000 is foolhardy at best - but hey, it's Mikes money. He can do with it as he pleases.

Again, I'm amazed you know the deets on what 93.1 will be busy with, but not 107.9. How much do you really know, if you know?

Nate, I know exactly what 107.9 will do, but it's not my station, nor my place to publicize it. The Scott Alexander can do that if he wants. The 93.1 information is acurate. It is public information, and many in te business is aware of it. Take it to the bank. NewsTalk 93.1 debuts September 1 with the exact same lineup as 107.9 (unless there is a major engineering screwup).

Should my wish not happen and WHBB were to be put up for sale, I might entertain the thought of pursuing it.

Talking with various people, to see if they would like to help me get this 1000 watt standalone and then do something with it.

Even my friend from Moody Radio South advised me to buy this facility, should Reynolds decide to dump it.

I would like for this station to go silent but if I could snag it, man that would be exciting to me.

Already have some possible plans for this station, should things work out and I'm able to get it.

And yes I will even entertain the thought of getting a FM translator rebroadcast for fill in purposes and to help market this station better.

Stay tuned and I'll keep you posted.

R.D.P. <><

P.S. Hope the new 93.1 FM Newstalk station will do very well, once you get it going Mr. Gower. Also hope 107.9 FM will have continued success, once the new format is in place.

Just got the word from Mr. Al Stroh himself that WDXX will more than likely become a Classic Country type of station, with a sports talk show mixed in during the middays, once they move to the moo cow pastures in northern Lowndes county.

Now some are asking why him? We was talking about my possible dream. Things may be working out for me after all. Let's just say that me and Mr. Stroh are working on a way to bring CCM to Selma, without the need for me to get WHBB.

Stay tuned and I'll keep you posted.

It's fair to say that's never stopped you before...

Link?

This will not be a factor in Montgomery unless it gets translator help (or 107.9). Slightly stronger signalled WALX barely shows up in the last ratings provided on this site. As for 93.1, there is a facebook page for what its worth.

Hotseat,

the FCC strictly prohibits using a translator by a licensee to "extend coverage". The 60db signal of the translator must be within the 60db contour of the primary FM. A third party can rebroadcast an FM in extended coverage, but cannot charge rent or receive any other direct $$ from the primary FM. Not sure why any translator owner would do that in this day of AM and HD on translator service. You are correct - mr. Mike is trying to have his cake and eat it too with this turd in a cow field.

Oh, and btw, interesting reading can be found at the bottom of his construction permit. Seems Mr. Mike must move an FM down south, and create a new AM in Luverne BEFORE he can even program test. Done in July - not likely.
