on wdha i herd tony page with a caller calling bon jovi "fags" and then hear tony use the word "***" ! i thought radio was "cleaning up" there act. now im not offended one bit but i would imagine some might.

Considering they ran a "Who disclaimer" a few weeks ago-
(I read the transcript on the NY board) that stated the station didn't mean to offend anyone with a particular contest they ran that slammed Pete Townsend for pedophilia someone should "maybe tell the PD"(I think it's the guy you actually mentioned which makes it even harder to believe) dissing artists that the station supposedly supports is not the thing to do....this is Jersey man.....doesn't DHA play Bon Jovi? they always used to....another artist for NY to own.......
that station always had integrity......WHAT HAPPENED?
Plus......with all the strict rules these days.....would someone even air that call? it's not worth it.....

The fact that New Jersey has a reputation for being "Hair Metal Central" has something to do with the fact that our Rock stations still play Bon Jovi, even though by all accounts they are now Hot AC artists. I think they still play Skid Row as well. Wouldn't surprise me if they threw on Trixter every now and again as well. Hmmmm ... did I cover every NJ mousse rocker? I know that LA Guns and Warrant make frequent stops out here.

New Jersey loving their poodle rock so much is probably the main reason why Rock stations around here aren't fully evolved. The pop-metal influence has probably kept radio stations from embracing the edgier stuff on Active Rock playlists, like Slipknot, Sevendust, Ill Nino, Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, etc. Yeah, I might have used some names poking fun at the genre. Some of that stuff is alright, but I can't help but believe that radio programmers feel that pop-metal and more aggressive metal mix like oil and water, and they're right for feeling that way. I just wish there was a place where we could hear the heavier stuff.

Nothing wrong with targeting rock listeners who are happy with their lives. Some of us never caught the wave of oppressed lib submissive angry white male rage (express it with your music and piercings but remain submissive the way libs have told you to be). Some of us smile and enjoy life.

Haven't posted since the site has been revamped! Lovin the Jersey threads so I couldn't resist.......
I lived in central jersey for a long time and DHA was my favorite station for many years..can't get em in Brick..listened to hear what all the "hype was"......Holy blank! sounds like a different station. I heard the "announcer" working for Mr. K say she was in for him. Thank God! She is terrible. I guess it's tough to find fill in talent these days. (the guy on before her sounded pretty amateur also-very college) WDHA was always a station that could hold their own with the big guys.doesn't sound it now.where did all the DJs go?
I also heard a bunch of "modern rock type bands" that G plays...on WDHA? that's a station that SHOULD play the Bon Jovi's and Poison's of the world. why the BIG changes?

Those bands are also on WRAT (also owned by Greater Media as well). I'm a little confused as to why they take that approach. If you ask me, both stations would be better off dropping the soft rock and the hair metal (save for maybe Bon Jovi), and playing more (non-remixed) Korn, Tool, Rage, Manson, Slipknot, Sevendust and other darker bands. I mean, every station with a Rock affiliation around here is so soft! The only station that is an exception to that rule and sounds the way an Active Rock/Alternative should sound is 102.7 The Ace, WJSE. This station is much closer to the sound of the stations I've heard outside of New Jersey, and provides a sound that both WDHA and WRAT should strive for. Pity it's on such a weak signal, but at least you can hear it online ( http://www.wjse.com ). There's plenty of places to go if we want to hear softer rock music or hair metal. Why is everyone so afraid to break out and do something different?

One person said that there was nothing wrong with happier music. That may be true, but life isn't always a bowl of cherries, and there are times where you don't want to hear "Everything, everything will be just fine", "We'll all float on, OK", or some dude with big hair singing about his 24/7 party lifestyle. We already have plenty of that, so why is there no outlet for the less happy-go-lucky music out there?

i could really take or leave bon jovi. i dont turn it off if i hear it but im not looking to see a show. the point was more the shock of hearing the dj call them fags on the air! thank god none of the bon jovi lovin girls were in my office at the time cause they would flip. remember them being on the front page of the paper for going to dha and now they call them fags on the air. just dont get what they're trying to do!
