Now Playing Website Interface

StationPlayList Studio has a real nice "Now Playing" feature, that allows you to "generate a completely customizable HTML web page or text file containing the current song details, and up to 9 of the previous songs played. The file may be automatically uploaded to a remote web server via FTP. All of the file tag information above may be output and much more."

This is good but I want to display all of the artists playing "This Hour" all the artists playing "Next Hour" and all the artists played in the "Previous Hour".

Does anyone know if SPL is customizable to accommodate these requirements or is it only customizable base upon the limited parameters cut and pasted from their website, above?

Many thanks,

You can probably do something with an entire hour considering SPL has to use a one-hour playlist file to operate. You might want to try asking your question on their support group hosted over at Yahoo Groups.

FYI: If you pre-announce your music, either by way of audio or web site you can be liable for violating of the DMCA ruling which states you can't pre-announce specific songs and/or artists.

Pre-announcing is not, technically, a violation of the DMCA at all, but you are in the ballpark. It simply means that I may not quality for Statutory Licensing under the DMCA. Please review the following link for more information: http://www.nfcb.org/ntnm_materials/Reference%20Memo%20Streaming%20Copyright.pdf

I cut and pasted some of the webcasters programming restrictions that must be followed to qualify for Statutory Licensing below:

Programming Restrictions: As a condition for using the statutory license (and in the absence of having a direct license from the copyright owners), any webcaster, including radio stations simultaneously streaming their over-the-air signal, must meet the “sound recording performance complement” on each channel streamed. What does that mean?

During a three hour period:
 Play no more than three songs from a particular album;
 Play no more than two songs consecutively from a particular album;
 Play no more than four songs by a particular artist;
 Play no more than four songs from a boxed set; and
 Play no more than three songs consecutively from a boxed set.

Limitations on prior announcements: Advance program schedule or prior announcement of song titles may not be transmitted by text, video or audio. Webcasters may name one or two artists or a particular genre of music to illustrate the type of music on a particular channel. It is permissible to announce the name of a song immediately before it is performed or to announce that a particular artist will be featured at an unspecified future time. It is the prior announcement of the song that is a problem, because such an announcement facilitates the copying of a particular musical work.

Identify song, artist and album. When performing a sound recording (i.e., during, not before), a webcaster must identify, in textual data, the sound recording, the album and the featured artist, if receivers are capable of displaying the information.

Interestingly, if I have direct licensing with the copyright owners, none of this applies.
