Now, Romeo...

... is heading some new thing called Goom:
http://www.radioandrecords.com/RRWebsite20/members/ShowHeadline.aspx?FormatId=0&ContentID=47801

Goom Radio officially launched in America Tuesday with the mission of "reinventing radio for the Internet generation... Goom's head of programming is former longtime WHTZ (Z100)/New York MD/night jock Tim "Romeo" Herbster...

I think we finally found a station that won't get as many listeners as the new Now, much less the old K-Rock! GOOM? LMAO!

Goom?!? Why did they pick that name???

I wouldve tried it out (since the article says it started today), but it will only lt me sign up with my email to test the beta when they send me a link?

Seems like their trying to compete with Pandora?

The name Goom originated in France, if you read the R&R article all the way through. Headed by former Radio NRJ folks, meaning serious industry insiders. The US operations also seem to be headed up by some major players so expect this thing to grow and evolve immensely once it launches later this year.

Interesting. NRJ is basically everywhere in europe, even Lebanon I think. Seem like a good idea, wonder if it will work. Probably not a bad way to try to hold on to some radio listeners. What I wonder is how this will "merge" with terrestrial stations, or differentiate itself from online radio that we already can stream. I can barely see the direction theyre headed. Maybe I'm just too skeptic.
