Now Rush jumps on the fund-raising bandwagon

...BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!

You've seen political bumper stickers like these advertised on Air America Radio for $49.95. But if you call El Rushbo now, you have have three political bumper stickers for only $9.95. You heard right, only $9.95!.

Richard Roeper, Chicago Sun-Times:

You may have heard that Rush Limbaugh is offering complimentary subscriptions to his Web site to members of the U.S. Armed Forces. But as Keith Olbermann of MSNBC noted in naming Limbaugh his "Worst Person in the World" for Nov. 15, Limbaugh isn't giving away the subscriptions -- they're being paid for by Ditto-Heads through Limbaugh's "Adopt a Soldier" program.

From Limbaugh's Web site: "Support our men and women in uniform by giving a subscription to Rush 24/7 and the Limbaugh Letter to a member of the U.S. Armed Forces. Adopt as many soldiers as you like at a discounted price and make sure that our military has full access to all three hours of every Rush Limbaugh Show. Say thank you by giving the gift of Rush to the men and women who protect our freedom . . ."

All for just $49.95.

I'll say this for Limbaugh, he's consistently shameless. Here's a guy who makes tens of millions of dollars per year spouting the company line to his legions of hardcore fans -- yet he's always coming up with new ways to make a buck. Limbaugh's site offers all kinds of crappy schnitzel, including:

*A three-pack of bumper stickers with wacky messages such as, "STILL VOTING DEMOCRAT? YOU'RE STUCK ON STUPID." Only $9.95.

*The "Jihad Java Cafe Travel Mug," $18.95, and the Club Gitmo Soap On a Rope" for $16.95. Funny stuff!

*A replica of "the same chair that Rush Limbaugh himself sits on each weekday while making broadcast history." The "Prestigious Attila the Hun Chair" goes for just $519.90.

Yet with all those moneymaking endeavors, the man who avoided military service during Vietnam because of a pilonidal cyst doesn't simply donate subscriptions -- he sells them to listeners for $49.95 and THEN passes on the subscriptions to the troops.

Using the war to line your silk pockets? Priceless.

I'm non-partisan. I won't junk up my car with any bumper stickers of any kind. It's amazing to see some of the cars heading down the street that look as if they are literally held together by dozens of bumper stickers.

It's not important how much they cost - it's more important to ask people why they would spend even $5 on a silly sticker.

Yeah, we'll see. :)

The perfect anti-Rush bumper sticker wouldn't be a bumper sticker at all. Just tape a cigar box with dollar bills poking out of it and some empty pill bottles all over your bumper.

If one won't listen to Sally the corner speed freak or Al the alcoholic bum who asks you for cash, why would you listen to an Oxy freak who asks you for cash. The only difference is the excuse for asking. Instead of "my car broke down" or "I just need two more dollars to pay for dinner tonight," or "I am trying to get enough money to pay for some gas so my family can get home," it's "I'm trying to raise money to send gifts to the troops."

Ewww... it's the special pilonidal cyst chair. Who wants that.

Re: Troops Don't Want Political Talk

It's getting him lots of criticism from the left, but then again, why should he care? No one is forcing anyone to buy a gift subscription in the first place. If absolutely npo sildier in the field would want to recieve one anyway, and none of them listen to political talk radio, why did we have to waste congressional time on hearings about hpow we need five hours of liberal programming to counteract one hour of Limbaugh?

Which would get the serviceman placed on report, if not court marshalled. Have you forgotten they are in a Moslem country, and we have to cater to the Moslem biases and prejudices?
______________

Dennis Miller too perhaps?

Yes, and right-wing talk radio's incessant talk about the evils of Islam wouldn't cause a problem, would it?

They have Dr. Laura as well. Of course, the right loves to talk about how the military is on their side, but most GIs would rather hear Tom Leyis talk about how to avoid marriage and have casual sex. Doesn't sound like conservative principles to me.

5? I thought it was Ed for 1 hour (and the word liberal could be used loosely there (pro-life, pro death penalty, anti-affirmative action))...

DR. LAURA???

Geez, our troops have enough to deal with. Why torture them with Dr. Laura? That's just cruel!

Because there was no counterprogramming alternative to Limbaugh...Ed Schultz' show was scheduled to start airing partial broadcasts similar to Limbaugh's, but that deal was pulled at the last minute.

Don't waste time typing a response, I'll do it for you: "There's no fairness doctrine on the Armed Forces network. And the fairness doctrine isn't needed." Says you.
______________
