Now taking bets on when WLZT goes All-Christmas

I'd be willing to take up a collection to buy certain people on this board an iPod for Christmas. The money spent would be well worth it if I no longer had to hear how no one in this market knows how to run a radio station.

That being said... bring on the Engelbert Humperdink and Steve and Eydie. I'm ready for some holiday cheer!

I'm thinking Nov. 12th. It seems like a lot of CC stations do it during the second Friday of November.

November 5 at 7am. but i am just guessing

Having obviously known when we were going to flip, I chuckled when I read your guess. Well done, Allfirdup!

Thanks ! i have to admit i may have cheated a bit, I went back about 10 pages on this site to last year and looked up what we all said about it then.

its amazing how may of those posts all you have to do is change the dates, and they are the same things being said still. (Not being aimed at you Nu_Roo, ok well maybe a little :) )

Given that my posts you refer to are probably mostly about historically stubborn 93.3, it's kind of obvious why they have to keep on comin for so long.  :D

Maybe we will be lucky and WSNY will let WLZT have the christmas music for themselves. The most annoying thing about starting these tunes playing so early is by the time christmas gets here you've already been burned out by all all those weeks the tunes have been playing.

I agree. Personally I don't think they should overlap holidays. I mean, Thanksgiving isn't here yet. I'm not a fan of the 24x7 All Christmas music either. Sprinkle the songs in here and there is fine, but to abandon your normal format for almost 2 months, is certainly no way to keep me listening. That would be like a public radio station doing a pledge drive 24x7 for a month an a half.

I admire the station in Portland (?) that is running a snarky anti-all-Christmas-music campaign and urging people to save Thanksgiving.

Of course, as long as CC/Columbus continues its neurotic insistence on wasting WLZT's big stick on me-too AC, what have they got to lose?  May as well go with the only thing they do that ever gets ratings for them. This is, after all, the station that gave us the infamous Cinqo de Christmas promo several Mays back.  In retrospect, the fact that they came up with the bizarro calls "WLZT" for "Lite" years ago should have been an instant tip-off that this was destined to remain one weird, disturbed station.

Every year I hope they'll come out of Christmas music with something new, but to no avail.  This year I'm not even going to delude myself into thinking there's a snowball's chance.  Besides, if they did something sensible with 93.3 after Christmas, what would I have left to post about after the initial praise?  Oh well, as bizarre and maddening as 93.3's weak-AC fixation may be, at least it is offset this year by plenty of praiseworthy developments at other CC/Columbus stations....
