Now that its official...................

what will happen to KOLL, 106.3FM, KHTE, 96.5FM, and KKSP, 93.3FM now that the sale to Crain Media Group is official? I'm wondering how fast any potential format/call letter changes will occur? Could we be seeing an active fall as far as radio station activity in Arkansas?

I have no idea what, if any, changes are coming. I'll bet they'll be some. There are always is. You're right it'll be fun to watch.

I noticed today also that KTUV 1440 AM (Formerly KITA, KOKY) was sold to Birach Broadcasting of New York, a company that does a lot of international programming. They sold it in combo with an AM station in Tulsa, and the selling price was equal to what Davidson paid for the station in Tulsa...

Well, I am sure like everything else, as posted before, nothing too major at the start, but I do hear bad things for DJ No Name and his wanna be Hot 97.1 style of radio. Although, with Johnny Sig back in the picture, I guess we will find out if he has grown a pair and will put up with Joe Ratliffs BS once again this time around, or, finally step up to the plate and realize that the station is a joke. Time will tell. Also Have heard that a once terminated sales person, might be back in the picture after sitting on his unemployed ass for some time. If this is true it basically proves that no matter what Crain does this time around it may not be getting off to a good start. (Its never good when you get hauled out in cuffs when your CEO is in town) The KHTE camp seems to think they will be getting a move to the KOLL stick, man would that be a bad move! Spirit, that thing is a joke too. I say flip them all! They all suck and do not produce any ratings, but I think everyone knows that. Could it be that KHTE gets "dethugged" and adapt more of an Alice/Urban vibe....hmmm.......just a hunch.

I checked the web site and it looks likes Baby Boy and Toni are still around, they always seemed like good people, maybe they will make it through the changes. It should be an interesting fall as you stated before. Good day!

Archway Broadcasting becomes the credit crunch’s first casualty. Private equity fund Quetzal/JPMorgan Partners had grown frustrated by little revenue and dim prospects for change and was shopping Archway Broadcasting Group for months. It’s now selling Archway’s trio of markets for cents on the dollar. "Archway got crunched" says an insider who says it overpaid in a tough marketplace. "This shows you just where the market is. Anyone who has made a slight mistake in the last three years is really being pushed" says a broker — who says operators who thought they could "earn their way out" of a bad deal are especially hurting. Archway didn’t return Inside Radio’s calls. On the heels of selling its cluster in the Greenville-New Bern, NC market, Archway sells its three Arkansas stations to Crain Media Group for $4 million — half what it paid for the cluster in 2003. The stations include rhythmic CHR "Hot 96.5" KHTE-FM, oldies "K-106.3" KOLL and contemporary Christian "US Spirit 93.3" KKSP. An LMA with Larry Crain has already begun. In its second deal, Archway sells its five-station Decatur, IL cluster to North Carolina broadcaster Tom Joyner for what insiders say is 40% of the $8.15 million it paid NextMedia for them just one year ago. The cluster includes country "95-Q" WDZQ, CHR "Y-103" WSOY-FM, urban "Hot 105.5" WCZQ, news/talk WSOY (1340) and urban AC "Magic 1050" WDZ. Brokers — Michael Bergner (for Joyner) and Media Venture Partners (for Archway).

People who have the ability get financing on broadcast properties, but don't a damn thing about operating them, should not be granted licenses.
Al Vicente is a prime example, right color for the loan, wrong person to make it happen.

Exactly, but we all know the reason he got the job in the first place. Tax breaks my friend! OF course he basically was granted the wish of writing his own contract, so I cant say I blame the guy, although he is an idiot and was selling used cars before becoming a CEO of Broadcasting company
