Now that Mold School 94.5 is on the air...

If they only hired Skip Murphy and Company to make those format change promos that certainly is a bit of a disappointment. Good luck with the new format. I like the music but it has already been proven that a jukebox will not sell on 94.5

Airstaff start on August 8th.

From what I seen in past years most Urban Oldies and Rhythmic Oldies stations start off dull simply because they play the same crossover r&b hits that where on the pop charts in 60's 70's and 80's. But knowing them they need a better playlist since they dumped a 9 year old brand which I think was fine just needed a better playlist

Are they bringing everyone back minus Baisden? Or did hire new folk?

Salem, don't be surprised Radio One Dallas. From what I read, they are not doing so hot here in market #5. Dirtydan just might be right about what he posted.

I like the article she wrote very positive and upfront espically about the price of the markets she wants to enter but thats the same thing her company said after they sold their Los Angeles station. Although for Chicago she might have the upper hand since WVAZ and WGCI are the top Urban stations they dont have strong rivals aka Crawford stations.

I think her leaving LA was more about her spending all that money for such small of a black population. Radio One usually goes for markets with a large black demo, because of course that's who they target. Clear Channel is one of the few companies I think she can compete with, they do it in Detroit, one of very few markets where they're actually winning. Plus, Chicago has such a large Urban audience, it could work.

LA is the largest revenue market in the world, and has 60% more Black population than Charlotte.

Radio One took a successful station in LA for which they overpaid and made some moves that did not work. When the company was in great need of cash, they sold it as it represented the largest single-station sale opportunity.

I can credit the company for surviving the worst of its money woes, but this notion of 'new' R1 markets sounds like rosy talk for industry newsletters.

The last radio station Radio One bought was WPRS Priase 104 in D.C. from Bonnville. But I agree with the comment someone mention eariler about Cathy not having a station in her hometowm Omaha. The listeners are there to support the station
