Now that the "BEAT" has stopped....

..who will more than likely take there audience? HOT 107.9 is already hitting hard with the new positioner "Atlanta's ONLY Hip-Hop Station" as of Monday. Not to sure if GROOVE 105.7 will pick up the younger end of 95.5's listeners. STAR 94 and Q100 I'd say would probaly pull more listeners, but neither stations were heavy on hip-hop like 95.5 was. Wouldn't be shocked if some of 95.5's staff ends up at sister station POWER 100.1 in Athens.

WHTA needs to stop lying because they know WVEE plays hip-hop and eats their lunch while doing that. Sad...

well hey, 95.5 claimed they were #1 for Hip-Hop and they never played any deep Hip-Hop songs. Matter of fact the playlist wasn't much hip-hop. BTW, they were still NEW before the flip. Go Figure.

Cox stations never get old.

Not sure what the ratings were, but I'm sure the "#1 for hip hop" was supposed to mean the station with the highest ratings playing the most common mainstream hits that would (should) gain the most audience. Normally a rhythmic or a top 40 leads in ratings, so this is probably what they were trying to say. They didn't say "the most hip hop", but #number 1 for hip hop", maybe meaning it's where you go to hear the chart topping hip hop hits. Again, I'm not sure how their ratings were compared to the others, but you'd think the station playing strictly the hits in hip hop the most repetitively would surpass the other stations playing more or deeper hip hop (and even r&b) in ratings.

95.5 The Beat to my knowledge was always #3 when it comes to Hip-Hop stations V103 and HOT 107.9. They were once Atlanta's New #1 Hit Music Station, but changed to Atlanta's New #1 for Hip-Hop on the same day former Urban sister station 97.1 JAMZ flipped.

According to yesterday's and this morning's log on yes.com does not look like the Groove has changed at all musically. Not sure what people are referring to when they say they have added more R&B since the Beat flip

This is what I've been thinking all along... for even a few months now.
As much as I'm hopeful this whole situation may lead to something that actually makes sense happening in the Atl top 40 and rhythmic world, I'm still having my doubts based on all the things that have happened so far in the past. At least with The Groove being present during all this, there is some HOPE. I'll never get over the anti-genius idea to drop a rhythmic ac in ATL at the time they did, but... at least with all the things going on right now, there is a ray of hope and some feel of optimism present.

A day or three after posting this I began to notice that I don't agree with this anymore, but couldn't remember where I had posted it. Anyway, well back when I originally wanted to post what I'm saying now, I was going to say I am beginning to notice the three current songs to every one old school 90's or mid 00's hit. So, as most have you have already guessed, something is happening and... things ARE changing..!!!
