Now that the "Prairie Home" has been bulldozed for good...

A few things:

1. What do you think they will call Chris's show now?

2. Will any holdovers from Garrison's show get to stay on Chris's show?

3. Will the show go in a totally different direction or still use Garrison's model as has been the case since Chris took over?

Not sure your premise is correct. Garrison is the only one who got fired. It has no effect on the show.

It actually has an effect. According to MPR/APM, Chris's show IS getting a new name. Also, Chris cannot use the "Powdermilk Biscuits" song or anything Prairie Home related anymore because it's a part of Garrison's intellectual property. Theoretically, Garrison could (if he found somebody willing to distribute Prairie Home again, BIG IF here) start up a new Prairie Home, with Garrison as executive producer, and a new host just in case it's too cringeworthy for the audience if he hosted. Same goes for Charlie Rose. Charlie could start a new show (if someone's willing to back him, BIG IF again) with Charlie as executive producer and somebody else as host just doing what Charlie did at the "old round wooden table".

That was fast. I don't listen to the show any more, and with it running an hour earlier I'm in church when it starts, but my Wikipedia contributions list had something strange I didn't remember ever editing. It is now "Town Hall".

No, "Town Hall" is the venue where this week's show was produced. http://thetownhall.org/

My affiliate referred to it as the very generic "The show with Chris Thile". I didn't hear Chris refer to the show by any particular name.

The Associated Press reported erroneously the new name for the radio show. A spokeswoman for Minnesota Public Radio, the show's producer, says a new name has not yet been chosen.

Sad for those that were abused, but it's probably a good thing for MPR to be able to break ties with Keillor.

I don't know whether this week's was a rerun but I heard "Town Hall" mentioned. I just wonder what they called it when they announced what would be coming up later, back when they hadn't settled on a name. The announcer during "Wait! Wait!" this morning said "Live from Here" was coming up next. So what would he have said back then?

Since Chris Thile took over the show, I've listened with far less frequency, so to speak. I was surprised to hear the show open yesterday without the customary introduction by Tim Russell. Furthermore, there was ne'er a mention of Richard Dworsky or Fred Newman. Apparently, the foregoing stagers have exited, joining Sue Scott as Prairie Home evictees. It seems that Mr. Thile is seeking a younger audience.

Or he's seeking HIS audience.

That this is his show (and, by extension, his audience), appears to be the tacit implication of both articles to which I linked. The dismissals of managing director Kate Gustafson Sanderson, technical director Jason Keillor, and marketing director David O'Neill, seem to eliminate any doubt as to whose show Live from Here is.

The music isn't nearly as good, and the comedy isn't really worth hearing. These days, it's "Wait! Wait!" that I left on when I left home and didn't get around to turning ff right away.
