My favorite part of the article is this:

"Peter Thompson, president of the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce, said he hopes the radio stations will continue to operate in the Augusta area."

As if Clear Channel would just turn off WKCG, WABK, WIGY, WTOS and WFAU if they could not find a buyer.
 
B97 was never Christian, was it? For a while it was Alt Rock back in the mid 90s, tho, right?

As for the Christian thing, it's probably uneducated people assuming that CHR refers to Christian and not contemp hit radio. I know a sales person who, when she reads about CHR facts in RAB or arbitron documents, always relays the info as coming from Christian Radio.
 
Someone obviously had them confused with WHMX, operated by Bangor Baptist Church, which until a year or two ago called itself "The X".
