Now the specualtion begins

My vote is for Kenny from Concord, he could do mornings from his Vintage Ford Torino where the radio only gets stations from 1968.

So did the Bay Area need this station, or did CBS need a station that could do better than 0.8?

Sorry, Productionboy, and 1069_KIFR , Never owned a Torino, (never owned a Ford) and Im not stuck in 1968, as for the Jocks, its a no brainer who would be best, lets go over the list right away!!!
1) Big Tom Parker
2) Bobby Ocean
3) John Mack Flanagan
4) Jack Friday
Weekends Chris Edwards ,Paula Kelly,, Celeste Perry, and Steve Garland
Bobby Ocean or JMF for VO, Who else could even think of!!
I would hope we dont hear anything further from CB, RP, hardly a way to start your day!!!

Actually, I think "Cammy and Kenny" has a nice ring to it.

Kidding, kidding...please, no Cammy. Kenny would be fine, but no Cammy. Should we take up a "Ban Blackstone" petition, just in case?

Lkeller, your name is very fitting for radio , and now ladies and Gentlemen Lkeller on the bay Areas home for Classic hits, Lkeller. Its you!!! Yep I want to petition that Cammy will not return to KFRC, !!!! Thanks for your kind words, however Im busy every morning watching the news on KTVU Ch 2!! Kenny in Concord

Whatever KFRC is offering, it wasn't enough to get Osh to even agree to do imaging.

That doesn't augur well. But if they wake up, the talent's there (especially if you allow voicetracking):

Big Tom Parker
John Mack Flanagan
Eric Chase
Mark McKay
Don Sainte-Johnn
Jack Friday
Dave Sholin
Jackson Armstrong
Bill Lee

More than enough talent that, as I suggested in another thread, wouldn't be dependent on nostalgia...they'd be in there proving how good they are today.

Great Suggestions, Haggerty, no mention of Ron Parker or Cammy Blackstone!!!!! We all completed a long sentence with those two!!! Stay where your at Ron, and let me not forget Blackstone!! Kenny in Concord

Mark Mckay had been doing some VO work a few years back for KFRC FM, It would be great to See Mark back on board or even bring Mark on board for some voice tracking

Michael, I agee. I would wager they haven't got one person lined up. What they are likely doing now is deciding if the should be jockless like their "Jack Stations" only we'll call this one Classic Hits.

I hope all these folks (above) have real jobs or real radio jobs and don't need what these folks are offering...if Bobby Ocean turned them down then that's all of these guys need to know. I know several guys on that list, none of them
are crazy, and all the ones I know are employed.

What you will get is a bunch of medium market move up folks who will think 65K a year is a lot of money to work 6 days a week. If they do a airstaff, it will be some version of the staff you hear on Movin. Low rent and forgetable BUT
mostly easily replaceable.

Production Boy,

Email me off-board -- if you're in the mood to wager, I'll take a piece of that action. I'll save the money I was going to put on the Preakness and bet against you instead on this one! It would be a smarter bet. ;)

(Inside information? No, not me...)

And with all due respect (and I mean that sincerely), you have one of the plum jobs of all time in radio (wouldn't you agree?) and are one of the most talented people in the entire business ... but what happens if there's a management change in your future and you find yourself in the same spot, hoping that a piddling little $65,000 a year job in radio comes along?

It might only be $65,000, but it beats the alternative (not having a job in radio at all) -- or worse (having to find a "civilian" job like the rest of us). I have a lot of very talented radio friends who've been without a job for a long time, or are working crappy side jobs, and $65,000 sounds like a whole lot of money if you've been without a decent (or regular) paycheck for a while.

Does anyone actually know the Bobby Ocean situation?

Maybe he is setup nicely with KOIT and Satellite. Why give that up, if all is well. We all know how John Mack Flanagan was screwed around with. I am sure it happens all the time. Maybe Bobby Ocean didn't want to go through that anymore and is perfectly happy doing what he is currently doing.

I honestly do not think that CBS will run KFRC jockless orever. Look at the Wolf. They played 10,000 songs in a row. Then extended it until they had their air staff in place.

Timing is everything. Maybe there is someone they want but is still under contract. So they wait. Get all their ducks in a row and unveil the real 106.9 KFRC.

After years of knowing it as 99.7 KFRC, they are really gonna have to drive the new frequency home. 106.9 KFRC. (Not to forget the orginal and heritage 610 K...F...R...C...!)

I hope you're right, 106.9_KFRC (unless you're changing your handle to 1550_KYCY. Have you filed with the FCC yet?). Actually, compared to CBS, The Wolf was rather fast putting its air-staff together. I think they at least had JoJo lined up and involved in the operation at or before the format switch.

Remember how long it took CBS to come up with DJs for MOViN - As I remember, it was months before they lined up Balthazar and Maria for mornings, and a few months more before the rest of the staff was in place. And Katie Mason was retained from the Classic Hits format. She obviously took a very extended vacation.

In any case, I think we'd better be patient. At least we don't have to listen to the overly cheerful "Brad" and "Tasia" who want to force us to "feel good!."

Here's my lineup for the New and Improved KFRC:

06-09 Big Tom Parker
09-12 Dave Sholin
12-03 Bobby Ocean
03-06 The Slim One
06-09 Don St. Johnn
09-12 Candi Chamberlain (Sp.?)
12-06 Chuck Martin

ROLL ON--KFRC
;D ::) ;D

OK: Here is my line up;

Mornings: Gary Bryan. News/Weather- Gil Harr
Middays: Sue Hall
Afternoons: John Mack Flanagan. News/Weather-Vicki Liviakis
Evening: Bobby Ocean
Nights: Don Sainte-John
Overnights: 'Marvelous' Mark McKay (most probably voice-tracked for this shift)

Gil Harr , unlikely, Kind of like The "Emperor Gene Nelson" returning, not very likely, as far as middays, "LEE BABY SIMS" , Leave Sue Hall at The Wolf!! 13 years of middays, long enough, scoot over and let some Veteran talent on board!!!!Lets see a guy like Lee Baby started radio in 1961, Sue was 3 years old, Whos the Legend? No comparison, Guys Like JMF and Lee baby are few and far between!!! Kenny in Concord

"Lets see a guy like Lee Baby"

Maybe you could find a veteran like Lee Baby Simms, but I doubt it will be Lee himself. He writes into this board occasionally...when his name was mentioned recently, he wrote in to say that CBS offered him a gig on KFRC a couple of years ago (after he was released by KISQ), but he declined. Apparently, he's quite happy in retirement.

You know who'd be perfect to host KTRB/860's Saturday night "San Francisco Sound" show? Lee Baby.

Too bad nobody's thought of that yet...
