Now, to The Point

Does Utah really need another hot AC formatted radio station? Look at this:

1.) KTCE 92.1 The Edge (ABC SAT.)

2.) KQMB Star 96.7

3.) KJMY My 99.5

4.) KENZ 101.9 Gen X

5.) KYLZ 104.7 The Point

6.) KUDD Mix 107-9

The Edge and Star aren't streaming online but I can just imagine that market is saturated with hot AC. I don't want to sound rude but there are Mormons in SLC - do they get a kick out of hot AC music or what?> In the past there was Star 102.7 and 101.9 Pop FM.

The format is 'classic alternative' which was very popular in the urban areas of Utah back in the 80s and early 90s. Not an AC format musically or presentationally, it's sort of a hybrid between modern/AC and alternative - but gold based.

Glad to hear that someone has picked up the great tradition of "Modern Music" that goes back to the likes of KCGL, KJQ, X-96 (back in the late 80s and early 90s) and KENZ. I'll be there in 2 weeks and can't wait to give it a listen!

I actually like the Point a bit better than the End. The End was much more Hot AC and it seems the Point plays more good alternative - MGMT and Midnight Oil among them.
