Now what about the testimonials?

WPRO is very heavy on them. I know Arlene does her wine tastings and gutta helmet but Kass and Yorke put their personal approval on various things. Now I'm hearing Matt Allen (who I like by the way) doing testimonials for roofing and siding and auto detailing. Gimme a break. This isn't Paul Harvey here. Are these people getting freebies for doing these? I know the name of the game is to get what you can get because no one's gonna hand it over to you but some of these are out of hand and I seriously doubt if a one-day-a-week talk host who does some weekday fill-in is doing that much good for a sponsor by putting his name in a testmonial spot.

Jeet,
His ratings are very high on his Saturday show. He works hard at what he does. I think his good reputation does sell product. I know one of the sponsors first hand , there is nothing going on. It`s really part of the job, if you want it to be.
Tony.

...Yes, of course they get product/services for free. They are then able to endorse them, if they choose to do so. When they do, they are also paid - usually by some "per announcement" fee.

Cha-Ching. It's an idea as old as Marconi himself.

ps: I suppose there are less-than-honest talents that simply take the money and don't use the product/service. (hello weight-loss pills/programs...hello "haddock") However your best gurl Eileen wouldn't be caught dead telling people something was great if she had no clue ;)

Just once I'd like to hear someone do a condom endorsement.
