GONE...

Smooth Jazz
Sunny
Active Rock (WYSP)
Y100
Standards (WPEN)
Real Oldies (WPEN)

STILL HERE...

WOGL (Does this station need addressing? I mean, seriously)

WMGK (The worst excuse for a classic rock station since God made Adam and Eve...or Adam and Steve, whichever you prefer...not that there's anything wrong with that)

WMMR (OK for white noise, but not newsworthy enough to chat about)

B101 (My grandparents are already dead)

BEN (OK, if one grandparent still had one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel...than maybe, but probably not)

WPHT (Liberals are bad, conservatives are good...Got it)

AND FINALLY...

Do most of us here care about...

TIRED
POWER FAILURE (we should be so lucky)
THE BEAT
Q
WDAS
COUNTRY

What's left to talk about?

I am probably one of many who used to listen to Y100 or WYSP for a while and then decided it was time for a standard or a real oldie (later on) on 950 AM and then maybe chill out to some smooth jazz or a Carpenters tune on Sunny before dinner time. I think a lot of us here were like that. But now what?

It's hard to believe we have lost our great radio stations inside of a two or three year span.

I already have Sirius...and it's great. But it's not the same as a locally programmed station with personalities with whom one is familiar.

The two stations I listened to in the last decade were YSP and Y-100. I was with YSP since '96, when they dropped Classic Rock and went Active. They were my first choice, second was Y-100, a fantastic station, before that I listened to DRE and was glad the Y picked up McGuinn and a few others. When sell out Lerner sold it to Ra**** One, I knew their days were numbered, no matter how well they did, we all know why they flipped, AND IT WAS NOT MOOLA ORIENTED. JL loved the Modern format and I was told there was a stipulation that it could not be flipped for at least 5 years, don't know if its fact. I am not a sports fanatic, so when YSP was doing Eagles and yakking with Merel I went to the Y. After the talk change almost a year ago on 94.1, even the music parts were lousy, Ed trying to be a talk hero with his constant sexual bits and the others. Nights with Matt and Huggy and the weekends were when I listened. I just cannot stomach MMR, don't know why but even with Pierre, who is my age, cannot connect with it. I just don't see them as a true Rocker, they are still a trainwreck, but the best of the worst I guess. When Milkman was there he was trying to make them a full blown Active Rocker but we all know what happened to him. Its a shame the Rock audiance is not minority oriented, then we would be loaded with Rockers. I do know many Mexicans love Hard and Metal Rock, from being in Texas, NM and Arizona during a few Military tours. Its been a sad week in Philly radio history, the worst its ever been for our kind. Sorry for the Rant.

I've heard that mentioned before too, but don't know if its true.

Now, WHAT?
WHAT gets numbers as bad or worse with local Urban Talk as they did with a hodge-podge of Urban Talk, Air America's brand of White liberal talk and gospel music.
Maybe they should try Syndication One's syndicated Black talk line-up with the Rev. Al Sharpton.

Besides RO in Philly, ever heard of a company flipping the highest billing station in its city's cluster?

I would say that the sales guys for RO got beat. ;D

Ysp dropped classic rock in 95 not 96

Seriously, what difference does it make and what relevance does it have to this topic?
