NPR has announced the addition of Yolanda Sangweni as Senior Director For Programming.

Sagweni joins NPR from Luminary where she served as Director of Programming & Editorial since August 2019. She also spent nine years at Essence Magazine where she served as Entertainment Editor, Deputy Editor, Digital Content Director and was a podcast host. She also founded and edited AfriPOP! for ten years and was a freelance writer.
At NPR, Sangweni will be part of the programming leadership team involved in the development of new programs and initiatives. She will also act as programming’s senior liaison with the Marketing division and be executive sponsor for existing shows such as Throughline and CodeSwitch.
