Before you jump to conclusions, perhaps you should look at who already is in this Hall of Fame. And then look at how they arrive at the names of the people they honor. I think you might change your view.

If there are other people in the Radio Hall of Fame who don't belong there, that doesn't prove that adding another undeserving person like Stern is a good thing.
 
That's not what I'm saying. This is not an "industry" Hall of Fame. It's voted on by the fans. Sort of an American Idol approach to a Hall of Fame.

If that is the case and Stern has so many fans, then why hasn't his name already been added to this Hall of Fame? I agree with Talk Dude. Just because something's popular doesn't make it quality or worth honoring.

I suspect because he's not as popular as he thinks he is. And he didn't wage a campaign to get in.

Meanwhile, Bob Kingsley, the long-running host of American Country Countdown, ran a campaign to encourage fans to vote for him, and he didn't get in either.

In his prime, Stern was the very definition of quality for his format of radio. Just because we may not like it doesn't mean he wasn't the best at what he did. I don't like Top 40 countdowns, but I know Kasey Kasem and Rick Dees were damn good at them.

No, Stern was the very definition of success. Stern proved that pandering to an audience's baser instincts paid off. Granted, Stern was the best at using cheap, salacious dreck to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

Stern was the best at what he does in the same way that Paris Hilton is the best at being a talentless bimbo who achieved fame for being famous.

The Ob/Gyn is still very much alive and well and still practices on Sirius.

I can only speak to what he was like when I heard him. If he remains the same low life, scum-sucking bottom dweller he used to be, then that's what he is. I haven't heard him since he moved to Sirius. I have no intention of ever hearing him again.

You seem like the type who would listen to him every day just so you could preach about how much you despise everything he says. In stead of venting about how you refuse to pay to listen to him, just allocate a few ¢/day, way less than a cup of cheap coffee!

BTW...I have XM without "the best of" package. My personal opinion is that, at my ripe old age, he simply bores me. The only thing he has ever said that bothered me was about Robin asking her father about the birds and the bees (her dad molested her). Howie pays her enough to take it.

Sorry, but you are mistaken. When he was on the air for free, I did not listen to him voluntarily, but there were times when my co-workers arrived at work before I did, and therefore won the right to set the background radio station. As a result, I was stuck listening to him more often that I wanted to be.

Please note, I didn't start this thread. I have only posted reactions to what others have posted. Had no one launched this thread, I would not have posted anything about Stern.

Howie is alive and well. His show, not so much. Can only get so much mileage out of porn stars and midgets. The late 80's Howard would spend weeks ridiculing the 2010 version.

As for Kassell, the guy's a legend. And pretty witty in his own right.

Well said. I agree totally. His piles of money is all the honor Stern deserves. I don't deny him his success, but he doesn't deserved to be honored in the Hall of Fame.
