I was listening to the end of C & R yesterday or the day before and they said Nudge was up next.
On a somewhat related note I see recent Cindy and Ray addition(cousin Oliver) Stacey is actualy the former Stacey C from the Beat morning show. Seems like a better fit for her than the Beat.
Nudge is still listed on Star94's website, if that means anything. In my experience, if someone goes, they're wiped from the website before their chair gets cold.
And I like what Stacy adds to Cindy & Ray's show, too. I think they have a good mix going on, not that Wendy wasn't a good fit, herself.
I was just thinking...hindsight is 20/20 of course. But Nudge did such a good job on Star's morning show for a couple of weeks. I'm wondering if they could have found a female co-host and given him the morning show.
Aside from Nudge being capable, I think he would have been friendlier-sounding to the former Steve & Vikki audience than what Star ended up with. And I think his appeal runs from young to older listeners.
The problem with the Morning Mess--and I'm the only person in Atlanta who thinks it's a good CHR show--is that it's just too darn different from Steve & Vikki; it was bound to drive the older audience away. It's also problematic for a few other reasons: 1) Star's music skews older, 2) Cindy & Ray are not exactly compatible with the Mess, and 3)The Bert Show (which Star is aiming directly at) is strong as hell, well established and now on one of Atlanta's really big signals.
Is my idea about Nudge a crazy one? I wonder if some people at Star are sorry they gave Nudge the chance to do airchecks of himself on the morning show.
For all of the (justified) complaining on this board about liner readers, you've got to be impressed with a guy that young who came onto a big-time station and made his shift come alive. He'll do well.
I've heard he's looking to do a morning show when his contract is up, but that's just the scuttlebutt. No solid confirmation. I think he'll do well wherever he ends up.
I am with you on that one...there's nothing special about his on-air abilities. That doesn't mean that he isn't a great guy. In fact, I have heard that he is a super guy to work with. But yeah, even at night he is boring.
It is a fact. Nudge is leaving Star 94. He is being replaced by someone named DARIK who did overnights at KALC - Alice 105.9 in Denver.
From what I read, Nudge is looking to pursue other opportunities and he can be contacted or his agent can be contacted for other options. So, I'm not sure what morning show he would appear to be starting with (unless in another market).
He's a good guy, great attitude and very friendly. I knew him from when he was actually living here in South Florida. He did play the role of "morning show clown/prankster/slave" (lol) from the now defunct Kenny and Footy in the morning on Y100.
He seems like a great and talented guy, and while a little boring on the morning show, better than the Morning Mess..
He will succeed wherever he ends up.
